981 Boxster GTS
Yeah, it's a quite a funny market and things move very quickly. Apparently just 271 of these on the road in the UK, so they've held their value ludicrously well over this past 5 years, given it was a £65-70k car when new. It does sound better than any other Porsche, other than a GT3, so I can see why people love them. My friends 911 with PSE sounds nothing like as good as the boxster GTS.
I would have loved the 18 way seats, as it's a bit of a pain me and missus using this car and constant manual change of height and reach...but they are super rare on the GTS.
I'm booked in to get the apple car play mod and upgrading the speakers (mine has the basic ones) next month, so hopefully it'll be nicely set for a good couple of years ownership.

It’ll be interesting to see how prices fare on the 981 when 2nd hand 718 4.0 cars start to filter onto the market, I guess not too much as I guess the 718 will still be a low volume seller.Angelus666 wrote: ↑Tue Jun 30, 2020 9:10 am Yeah, it's a quite a funny market and things move very quickly. Regarding the 18 way seats, when I sat in and also took the 718 GTS out for test drives, 3 in total, they all had the standard 2 way manual adjustable seats which I really liked, no issues, but I ordered mine with 18 ways and couldn’t live with them, far far too hard on the back, infinitely adjustable but I’m thinking that having the lumbar “bag” in the 18’s made them too hard. I know that sounds crazy but that’s how it was, in fact I always thought that if I bought another I’d want it without 18’s, another long test drive would confirm my thoughts. I wouldn’t give it much thought Angelus tbh, unless the side bolsters are squeezing you too much you’d probably not have the 18 adjusted much differently to the 2 ways.

It is ineed a bit of a joke that I can get comfortable in a VW Polo on holiday in about 5 seconds, and with my 18 way Porsche chairs I am fiddling for hours during a journey trying to get it "just right" and on the next trip, that would feel completely wrong again.
Too much choice in a way, but was standard in my 50th edition so did not have the choice.

Two weeks into Porsche ownership and I find that I need a new radiator set as my aircon is asthmatic....£1100 for a pair of those, which luckily/handily the dealer is covering the full cost.
The totally open aspect at the front really looks like a poor design, so will need to get some of those zunsport grills to protect the new ones. My friendly inde was telling me about some the 997's he gets in needing replacements every year because of the same issue.

If you have Porsche warranty it will be voided by the addition of zunport grills. Just so you know ...

Are the radiators fully covered under the Porsche warranty then, or are they viewed as consumables?

I don’t know about that, but the fitting of non oem parts to a Porsche invalidates the warranty full stop, so nothing will be covered anymore.

Come on Angelus..you know the score with warranty’s, aftermarket parts that are cosmetic and have zero effect on the actual reliability of the car and the dealers.....

Haha, yeah I get that, but are Porsche saying they’d rather replace the radiators on a non grill installed car if and when they break every year? Seems slightly strange to me.

Yep, but they do and won’t extend the warranty when they do their 111 point check.
Even the wrong N rating on tyres is enough or in my case the expiry date of the tyre gunk. It has to be rectified before they sign off, so the grills have to be removed in that case.

I thought the Zunsport grills were quite easy to remove once fitted as they clip onto the front of the existing grill and you don’t need to remove the bumper.
You could just remove them before taking it into the main dealers for any work. My car is much older so I just made my own grills for my Cayman after replacing the condensers. Worth doing something to protect them as it stops debris building up and getting between the condenser and front radiators.
Lovely GTS you have purchased though !!!

My Cayman is on Porsche warranty and ordered the Zunsport as there was so much crap on the condensers.
I’ve got Girodisc discs and Porsche are aware but never refused a warranty claim.

New radiators fitted today....lovely and clean, so will be fitting the zunsports to keep them that way and then take off if I need warranty work done.
