Did my black 3.0 Rdstrs Callipers Red,which were a good contrast.

Have had my current cars original calipers in BMW blue, "professionally" painted, but caused issues (sticking front calipoers!!),
Last year I put on Performance BMW (6pot) calipers,in what they call Phoenix gold,as opposed to Phoenix yellow....these are BMW performance colours, and while less yellowy than Phoenix yellow, some ppl still think they are yellow...I would call them a light/mid gold, and like the contrast with the Interlagos blue :D

paulgs1000 wrote:As my Independent has again said that my discs and pads are fine for this season . . . I'm going to paint my calipers and hubs. Hubs silver but what colour do folk think for the calipers on a stratus grey roadster?

I've my mind set on bronze but I can't find a paint suitable - there's 'hammered' finish hammerite, in copper, that might work. The earlier comments on gold looking like rust eventually, put me off but initially I fancied that colour.

The stratus grey is an awkward colour to compliment - maybe yellow (it's in the paint flakes?)

And hammered or smooth hammerite? :?

OP - I did my silver grey Zed's calipers and hubs in silver and as already said - they look new and fresh when done that colour  I may simply do the same on my stratus grey Zed - we shall see. . . .
Paul, PM GJC72 and hopefully he can send you a few shots of his - copper/gold sort of colour and they look excellent. I saw them a couple of weeks back and was very impressed. They work really well on his midnight blue car - not certain with your colour but still worth a look.

Black (a bit boring), blue and copper/gold look the best to me.

Thanks Stevo

Hard to see, but photos of my car from yesterday's cleaning session show how subtle gold looks :)

Refreshed my calipers today. A couple of years, brake pad and disc changes had meant the red chav coat underneath was showing through.

One coat of Hammerite smooth silver later and they're now as good as new.

I'm aware I got some paint on the pad sensor wire. It was the last caliper and I was knackered so rushed it

Very nice.

Just checked mine and they are black so it looks like somebody had already painted them previously.

Went with silver and clear-lacquered clips on my previous Z4. Now thinking about what to do with the ///M. Probably the same, lol.

I went with the Carbon colour and did the rusty hubs too. Was going to do a colour like red or blue but then someone said why would you want to detract from your alloys - they are the show piece, and with 19inch CSL replicas I agreed. Carbon colour is very subtle but looks classy when you get close (plus you don't have to do loads of layers to get proper coverage).
