....but....still getting loads of water marks and streaky drying lines.

The only way I can avoid it is to dry a panel with towel in one hand and with the other hand have a small microfibre towel (polishing type) dry to quickly/lightly wipe the streak. Before moving onto next panel.

This works...but has anyone got any better ideas?

Filtered water should help, but I just keep mine wet until I dry it with MF cloths etc.

I also follow up with quick detailing spray but deionised water is definitely best.

I have a black discovery and have the same issue, i wash it all over and then rewash and dry a panel at a time, takes me ages to clean the damn thing.

I have found RO water works better, but unless you have an RO (Reverse Osmosis) filter then it is not really an option, though you can go to most aquatic stores (the ones that sell marine fish) and they will sell it by the gallon not sure of the cost these days. RO water is not cheap if you do it yourself as it wastes 4 bad part to one good filtered (depending on your filter), filters vary, not worth investing in one if you have no other use or it. I have a fish tank and use the waste water for the garden, but you can guarantee i never have spare water when i want to wash the car. I still get marks just not so many

I live in a hard water area which sems to be the cause of the problem, I use a pink final rinse additive called .......devil i cant recall the full name as its quarter to one in the morning and Im a bit worse the wear for drink. However, it is a great product that leaves all paintwork free from streaks and water marks. Its about a fiver for a litre from automotive stores, ASDA has it last month for £2.00. I'll check in the morning for the proper name and post it, good night all

What kind of wax and or sealer do you use?

I also go over the car with a QD - I use Megs Ultimate QD - gets rid of any watermarks!!

As others, I use an inline filter for the final rinse - no water marks at all.

I use filter on my hose pipe, works well with water marks etc, as inhibits the water

Im not in a hard water area ( to my knowledge any way )
Never had water spotting issues unless its a hot day and not working round the car fast enough.
You can add optimum no rinse ( ONR ) to your standard shampoo which can help slightly but a main question that has already been asked is, how has the car been prepped and protected?
It sounds to me as lack of protection is partly the cause but I will wait for reply to the question.

The water filter is quite expensive option (£55). A filter can only treat 250 litres of hard water (for 25 washes).

Be no good for me then.
I tend to use more than double that for a wash better on the safe side rather than scrimping

I use zaino AIO and then follow with z2 when I'm putting on a new coat. Work slowly and approach panel by panel, drying as you go and even in the sun I never have any problems. Finish with z8 for extra bling!

You say you use 500 litres per wash???? Doubt that, I did a on going review of my resin filter for 1.5 years http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/s ... ght=filter and worked out i used 30 to 40 litres on a full wash so your using a little too much mate.

I got 836 litres out of my 11 litres resin vessel and it cost me £35 to refill it. Best detailing tool i have
