Single stage + ceramic coating on E89 35is

Hi Everyone,

I had "epic car care" from wellingborough carry out a single stage + ceramic coating to paint, alloys & glass this weekend. First time I have had this done and i can't believe how good it looks. He works from his home so overheads are low so it was only £500 which I thought was pretty good, he's done a lambo urus and some classic astons so I was more than happy to let him do my z4. He's recommended some products to buy to maintain the car, I would be happy to hear any suggestions from others on here who have had the ceramic coating I am looking at buying a bigboi blower to dry the car it looks satisfying to use

Looks great. The only thing I don't have in my detailing arsenal is one of those dryers. I have a much smaller one for when I'm doing a detail, but would love to be able to dry the car contact less.

Ceramic coating really does make a huge difference. Had mine done almost two years ago and it's still going strong. I don't have the facilities to wash the car at home so have to do it at the local car / jet wash. Even so I use the two bucket wash method and then put the car through the automatic car wash but only on the dryer cycle to dry the car off which effectively works similar to the Bigboi air dryer but not as good. If I could wash the car at home I would definitely invest in one of those. Most of the damage to the car's paint comes from contact so the more you can avoid that the longer your car will stay shiny and scratch free! I had the Gyeon Mohs+ ceramic coating applied to my car and every three or four months I use Gyeon Wetcoat to aid the ceramic coating. Your car looks great by the way and £500 is very reasonable indeed!

Thats a good idea using the automatic car wash for drying, I have to stay away from them though as I went through one in my girlfriends mini and it caved the roof in, will never go in one again they didn't pay out of course either. The non contact is definitely the selling point for me as I've always hated using the towel and marking. I've been recommended wet coat from the detailer so you've just confirmed it for me thank you very much I shall be getting some! And thank you I thought so too

I use a pet dryer and a 5m extension hose for something like a Henry hoover or similar from eBay. Think it cost me something like £75 total

Carbon Collective isn't professional-grade, but it is the one I use. Most professional-grade coatings require more in the application.

I'm very happy with the results from the CC stuff. Lasts 2-3 years easily and is also very simple to apply in terms of the process. A bottle will set you back £50-60 I think and it is more than enough to do a Zed. I usually put a second coat on the bumper and bonnet as these get the most weathering / impact.

I do cringe every time I put it through the automatic wash for that exact reason but the thought of the effort to dry by towel and contact with the paint gives me enough motivation to put it through, fingers crossed. LOL.

Some of the expensive ones are worth the money but some aren't. As I mentioned my Z4 was coated by the detailer with Gyeon Mohs+ which I think is similar to the Carbon Collective that you have. I do think many of these detailers make a big fuss about only a pro can / knows how to apply ceramic coating. When I got my Golf Estate a couple of months ago I wanted to get it coated but didn't want to spend much money on this car so I had it polished for a couple hundred euros and then decided to coat it myself using Gyeon Mohs+ (around 90€ / £65 a bottle) and have to say having done it now, it's such a simple job. Even simpler than applying wax, just have to watch our for high spots! I suppose it depends on the coating though as my mate had his Mercedes done with Modesta which required infra red heat lamps etc.

Infra red heat lamps sounds a bit over the top for anything I require You got the satisfaction of a job you did yourself which is the best bit
