Sticker residue

Post by Big Bad Boris » Thu Jul 09, 2020 9:35 pm

My daughter bought a new (used) car today. Somebody had clearly put a sticker with Paw prints on the petrol flap. The sticker has been removed but left some of the backing adhesive still on the paint. Any tips on how to remove this without damaging the paintwork by scraping etc

Also given how sad we are on here, I will give 5 bonus Z4 for points for anyone that can identify what car it is (it’s not. BMW).

You can actually buy a product called “sticky stuff remover” which works very well, in the absence of that you could try some petrol on a cloth :?

Take the cap off, leave it in warm soapy water 2-3 hours, rub it off with your fingers

Thanks both,

I concur it’s hard to argue with “sticky” in this instance..

I assume the cap will be simple to remove so I will try the soapy water trick first. If it doesn’t work I will get some sticky stuff remover and use that, we may lose one member In the process... sorry “sticky” :D

Spray with WD40 and wipe off, a mechanic showed me years ago when I’d stuck a window up late at night as an emergency repair with duct tape and couldn’t get the tape residue off.

I’m not guessing on the car, that’s be cheating

Strange,,,,, I seem to attract these kind of responses , the name is the result of eating about £20 worth of stickies en route between the Danish border and Rendsburg,,,,,, £20 in 1977 was apparently a lot of stickies :D :D

And there’s me thinking it came from your prowess at cleaning glue marks left on car panels :)
