E89 Exterior A-Pillar Trim Polishing

Post by acm » Mon Jun 15, 2020 5:41 pm

Hi,

The black gloss trim on my E89 has a lot of swirl marks on it and I was looking at what to use to eliminate or at least reduce the severity of it.

I'm assuming that the trim is plastic, but not sure if it is painted black or if it is gel coat so looking for some guidance.

I can of course use AutoGlym Super Resin Polish, but I guess that will just fill the marks and wash off after a while to reveal them again.

I was looking at Gtechniq P1 and P2 as an alternative - I'm tempted to start with P2, but having no experience of these products I would appreciate any advice or suggestions.

I would be doing this by hand - not with a DA - protecting the surrounding rubber and plastic from overspill.

Cheers!
Andy
