Which cutting compound to use?
Hi all, what cutting compounds/cutting polish would you recommend for light swirls/scratches, to be used with a DA Polisher? And which pads? I’m fairly new to this but I’m working my way up to it but I do know that my auto finesse polish with the soft pads has no affect at all. Cheers

Yep. Bmw clearcoat is tough as nails but also very prone to scratches bizarrely. Orange hex logic pad and Sonax Profiline Cutmax will sort those bad boys out for you no problem.

Thank you! Would I need to use a finer pad and another polish after this to finish?

I do have a bottle of ex04-06 and hex logic blue to finish but tbh the gloss from the cutmax has never left me wanting. I just use the ex04-06 for very light swirling. Probably depends on the colour of the car.... monaco blue has to be the worst in the world! Although it looks amazing when fully prepped.

Mines deep sea blue and it’s in pretty good nick but I definitely think it could be betterph001 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 12, 2019 8:24 pm I do have a bottle of ex04-06 and hex logic blue to finish but tbh the gloss from the cutmax has never left me wanting. Yeh, similar colour. Over the course of a few weeks you can get the finish looking like pure crystal if you take your time. It’s really satisfying, DA polisher was one of the best things I ever bought.

G3 do one that is sold in Halfords it was brilliant at getting scuffs off my old car! You have to go back over it with something lighter again after, just like your autoglym one.

I've used Meg's Ultimate compound with excellent results. I've also got some of the older formulation Profiline EX04-06 which seems to give about the same result, maybe slightly better, but it's a lot harder to remove the residue than the Meg's. I understand the newer 04-06 has addressed the issue, but I can't get it easily here.
Finished off with PB's Black Hole the result's very satisfying.
Shame my actual paint is in such bad condition it needs a wet sand. All I'm doing is hiding some of it with my efforts.

My son owns Black Magic car detainers here in Carlisle,
he uses Menzerna compounds and polishes, and they are fantastic products. They supply different grades for all types of applications.
He has paint corrected a Z4 3.0 just before Xmas and the owner was amazed with the outcome.
I think he has posted advice on his Facebook page, and he will give members all the advice and guidance necessary
