The turtle wax cleaner got a pretty decent review. Might be worth a punt.

This one always divides opinion and I've still not seen anything posted here or elsewhere that disproves cleaning leather with diluted APC on modern leathers is anything other than fine. Alot of professional detailers swear by it around the globe and that's good enough for me. If you want to use some moisturizing cream on the top coat after fill your boots, if not also fine.

I'm going with the baby wipes. Figure I can toss a box in the back of the X5 and clean up whatever happens

Just to add to the mix. I have always used Lord Sheraton's on car seats and bike jackets for years with great results

Leather Cleaner

Hi, many years ago someone suggested on a forum I used to frequent that the best way to clean leather seats was to use the lather from Pears soap, rub it in with a soft brush then remove with a damp cloth rinsed frequently.
It worked wonders, dont know if someone has already posted something similar, but thought I will share it anyway.
Try it you will be surprised how clean the leather comes out, all for 99p from the pound shop.

Did a quick google for that and found some interesting videos, but can't watch with sound at the moment so struggled a bit.

Does anyone have before and after pics?

I also need to attempt this, but don’t want to ruin my seat!

I've been using Autoglym Interior Cleaner both professionally and personally for 35 years.

You will not find a better complete cleaner for all interior surfaces including leather. A 5 litre tub costs approx £24 on Ebay and will last you years. I dilute mine 50:50 and use it as an APC also. It's awesome on engine bays, rubber mats and tyre walls too

I would go with the baby wipe recommendation. Anything used on a baby’s skin is unlikely to contain harsh chemicals. I have used these effectively for a variety of purposes over the years. In my working days I wore a suit and often a silk tie. Baby wipes were best at removing any stains from the ties. Much better than the proprietary products you can buy which often left some residue. They might not be sufficiently aggressive for really dirty seats but imo they are unlikely to do any damage and are worth trying before spending money on more expensive specialist products. Good luck and let us know what you finally decide to use and how effective it was.

Came across a video on Youtube mix 1 part Woolite to 5 or 6 parts water and scrub with a suitable brush. I just tried it and it's come out a treat, done a way better job than the leather cleaner from furnitureclinic.co.uk which cost me some 20 quid!

Is the cleaned bit at the top of that picture, the matte looking section? Thats what I'm looking for.

What constitutes a suitable brush? Stiff bristles?

Yes correct the top part of the photo. I just used a new hard bristle toothbrush! Worked amazingly well and cost next to nothing compared to the so called professional cleaning solutions on the market. Now I just have to do the rest of the interior and then coat it with Gyeon Leather Shield.

Which Woolite did you use? There's a few different types.

I didn't know that, here in Spain I could only find one type and it is in a pink bottle and just says Woolite for delicate and wool clothes. I guess it must be the standard / original version? I actually bought it to wash my microfibres and then discovered that it can be used to clean leather too.
