Respray costs

Post by ihadablackdog » Tue Apr 23, 2019 2:16 pm

Hi,

I have a 2011 e89 in Alpine White and when giving it a good de-tar yesterday (cos I get cheesed off washing it but still having bits of tar etc) I noticed the side skirts are in quite bad shape with lots of stonechips. I noticed it before, but at the time didn't worry about it.

And my front bumper had a cheap repair/respray by a previous owner cos they sprayed over stonechips and the exact shade of white isn't the same (its a bit whiter, not as creamy as the rest).

So, what would you expect to pay to prep and paint the two sills and front bumper? Appreciate its dependent on where, but probably a BMW approved bodyshop. Am I looking at several hundred or nearer a thousand?

I’ve just had the M bumper done for £350 so I’d guess £500 for yours and the skirts.

Would love to know where you guys get such reasonable quotes; I just went round 5-6 body/paint shops in the London area to get the front wings and front bumper on my E85 resprayed and the cheapest quote I got was £750 + VAT! 4 of the 6 wanted well in excess of £1200 just for a 3-panel respray.

Mine has gone in this morning for front and rear bumpers to be done, plus some stone chips on the bonnet touched in. £560.

Everything is more expensive down here :( i was paying £300 for front bumper respray 13 years ago but it was a very good bodyshop

I have used the same paint shop for little touch ups since we moved to Cornwall 30 years ago. Lovely family run place. Thought I had met them all, but a young girl in reception today had a certain look. So I had to ask. Youngest daughter it turns out.

So £500ish is a rough idea.

Cheaper option is to let the tar spots build up and convince myself it’s all tar.
