Slightly shiney steering wheel

Post by wilwong1971 » Wed Apr 10, 2019 9:32 am

Hi

I had my steering wheel recovered in leather a few years ago, still in great nick but the right side of the wheel (where it’s retrimed in perforated leather) is getting rather shiny ,,

To prevent further wear would restoring that part to Matt finish with this be ok?

Thanks!

Interesting to see a product made specifically for shiny steering wheels.i would have thought you will need to do the whole wheel or it will look odd.

I’d try thoroughly cleaning it before trying any recolouring -you’d be surprised what a difference that alone can make.

Try some APC at a 10-1 ratio and give it a damn good clean with a microfibre cloth (also try a magic sponge) and you'll see a huge difference.

I agree with the cleaning bit. The Dodo Juice Supernatural Leather Cleaner and Sealant gives a matte finish. I use it on my leather and very happy with the results.
