Evian Water for final rinse

Post by Angelus666 » Sun Mar 24, 2019 7:41 pm

For those with black cars, you'll know the pain of rush to dry the car before the dreaded water spots appear. Well, yesterday whilst cleaning the car I popped back in to get a drink, then had the brain wave of taking the last bit of the Evian water and put it into an empty spray bottle. Gave the car a good mist with this after washing and bingo bango absolutely zero streaks or water spots....made the car a doddle to dry.

I was thinking of getting a resin bottle for the final rinse, but I might just get a few cheap bottles of water from Tesco (25p for 2 litres) and then use this for the final rinse from now on. Kind of banging my head as to why I didn't do this before... :?

haha....no I'm not. I do live in a crazy hard water area (essex), so thought I'd give it a try....genuinely made a massive difference. In reality, a 2lt bottle of 25p water would last 20 washes easily, so a penny a wash is nothing.

I have a gizmo made by someone that takes ionised water that you connect the hose to, same principle as the evian water idea.
I also have Wet and dry suck and blow vacuum that I was cleaning the car with one day. After washing it , for shits and giggles I put the vacuum on blow, and guess what - it only worked.... My zed had a blow dry....
If you ever think I'm off my rocker.. Just put me back in it and walk away... It's the kindest thing

Hang on a minute, mineral water is full of minerals innit. Surely it marks like hard water. I have heard of detailing types using the condensed water from the tumble dryer in their window washer bottles as Angelus666 suggests. Anyway I like your commitment. Or is it Spring water you are using? The two are different as spring water must be from one source. Mineral water is just tap water that someone adds a packaging label to. Does it take care of Lleylandii pollen too. Boy thats a pest just now.

I occasionally use a leaf blower to dry the Zed, the cable is a pain in the arse and I've considered a petrol one just for the job. Always use a Karcher window vac on the glass. Intrigued by the dehumidifier water though, is this really effective ?

Evian Water for final rinse

Post by Tinker15 » Mon Mar 25, 2019 12:01 pm

Here in Holmfirth the water is very soft so there is no problem with spotting. However, our XF is dark coloured (Caviar) and lives in France for 6 months over the summer. The water there is incredibly hard so washing the car is a nightmare. Local car washes use demineralised water for the final rinse but I’m not keen on using them. Has anyone tried using this filter https://www.raceglaze.co.uk/race-glaze/ ... ng-filter/ as it seems it could be an option?
