Can anyone recommend a black spray paint to refinish the plastic trim around the leather gear gaiter?
This has deteriorated with time - I have a Z4MR.
Have been looking at Plasticote spray satin finish?
Any advice gladly received :D

Plasticote will peel eventually. Matt black paint should be more durable.

What do you mean by deteriorated, has it just faded? WD40 works wonders on plastic trim.

I use plastic primer and bumper paint too. Really tough stuff that doesn’t scuff easily like some other satin or matt finishes.

Follow it up with some soft touch lacquer for a factory feel

Halfords Satin and paint shop standard satin don't match the rest of the interior, I've tried both. I took a piece of trim off and got them to mix the colour for me.
Wet and dry then 2 or 3 costs looks fine

Thanks for all the advice. Used few coats of matt black spray paint, good result.
Can srhutch tell me where I can get the soft touch lacquer?

I was going to ask simar question about the steering wheel...the bits at 3 and 9 o'clock worn back to white plastic! Has anyone done this 'in place', masking buttons and everything else in vicinity. Or is it really a take it off and pull it apart job?

Ps I saw a link somewhere to a guy on YouTube comparing plasticoat with Frost liquid wrap, which came out way better in his test (doesn't peel so easily).... Has anyone used this??

Definitely remove them from the car. I managed to remove all three trim pieces without having to remove the airbag. Also don’t mask the buttons off take them completely apart and put them to one side

I've used a lot of Eastwood products for restoration. They are not cheap, but they work very well. Look at this stuff...

Its available from Frost Auto Restorations in the UK.
