Front End Respray

Post by Angelus666 » Wed Sep 26, 2018 2:23 pm

I'm going to have the front end resprayed on my car in the near future, so keen to know if anyone has had this done and what type of pricing people have been paying? I've had a quote for £1600 for bumper, bonnet, wings and mirrors....it's chunky but the place has a good reputation.

i'd expect to pay around £300ish for bumper, another £300ish for bonnet, then £150 for each wing, then c.£50-60 per wing mirror. then a good body shop will blend into the doors too.

It is heavy (ish) - BUT if they do a good job then IMO it's worth it. I've learnt from experience that time and hassle of rectifying a bad job is worth much more than saving a few hundred quid here and there

I paid £500 for front bumper, bonnet, front wings and rear spoiler and I’m happy with the finish.

I would say that's well on the "chunky" side, I had my E85 done and they did a cracking job for £950

Sounds about right, I am paying around that for a front end repaint on my M3.

I paid just over 800 for front end plus blending into the doors, not cheap but an immaculate job by a friend who works at a BMW main dealer paint shop. 1600 is top money so I'd expect an absolutely pristine job for that.
Currently zedless :(

Expensive that
That's nearly there for a full car respray!
Suppose it depends a bit on where in the country you are.

if it's a big bodyshop which charges VAT then that might also be why it feels heavy?

That price was a cash price, so with the VAT it would be nearly £2k...

I'm in Essex, so it seems everything is priced silly... :(

Ex vat that is a lot. Have you tried a few other places for quotes, then run them against each other and go with the one you think will do the best job

Im in Kent, you just have to find a good, reasonably priced body shop, there are quite a few around me, you want to travel over the bridge

Sounds a lot to me. A BMW stealership would do it for that or even a bit less.

You usually pay for what you get with paint, depends if he is removing bumpers and trims etc or masking it all up etc. Also not all paints are the same quality or cost so this will be another factor.

As I said I am paying similar money for my M3 but I know it will be a top job I had many cheaper quotes but I didn't feel I was going to get the result I wanted.

If you find a cheap one that you are happy with then you could go for it, but there is many many cowboys about so be careful.
