After spending in inordinate amount of time on Friday washing and waxing Benny Jr. it still bugs me to catch glimpses of the long patch of flattened paint on the topside of his boot.
At some point in its' life the old boy has benefitted from a very good quality front end respray. However, the backside now needs to catch up.
Whats the solution for flattened paint? A respray or paint correction detail/polish? Is the lower paint layer affected or is this the topcoat of laquer which is affected? Any expert advice welcome....
From most angles the flatspot isnt so noticeable. Truck drivers must scoff at the tardiness though

I’d be having a go with some compound and a DA first. Nothing to loose.

yep, work your way up...compound, then if no good wet sanding it should get it right. Youtube the process, pretty easy on a flat panel like that.

Thx chaps.
Yeah, thinking about investing in a decent da to do the whole car. Boot would be a good place to start obviously!
So it's not the paint layer? Only top coat related?

Don't think a DA will touch that even with a wool pad and a cutting compound.
Wet flat with 1500' 2000' 2500 then rotary. If under the clear coat then re-paint only.
Nothing to lose by trying though as others have said. Just need more than a DA.

personally id hit it with rotary on a course compound , see how it looks, refine it down further and report back..... a DA will do nothing in this case but waste product. Especially on the harder german paints, also im about to do a very rough black rs5 with something called UHS with the uhs pads.... unreal what they solution can do in 1 stage of work.
