I've had my Z a few weeks now and while washing it today I noticed just how badly scratched my drivers side window is. It looks like the scratches are a result of the window going up and down and getting caught on something.
Firstly, any ideas what would be causing this?
Secondly, any ideas for getting rid of the scratches? They're fairly light but you can feel the dents when you run your nail over them.

Ive got a bit of this going on... seemed to happen when next door had a extensions put on their house.. I assume its bits of building dusts getting blown about and down the seals area.. Just kept hitting it with polishing paste.. its way better and only really noticable if your looking for it but I dont think it will ever be completely gone unless I buy one of the special kits on the market.. there are some out there if you use your google fu
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble

Ah, that might make sense as the previous owner used it as a daily over last summer and worked in construction so dust and debris could well be the cause. Weird that it's only on one side. I'll get polishing and see how it looks, thanks mr.tourette

It's definitely caused by debris on the seals as I used to get streaky marks exactly the same as your scratches. The culprit was mould growth on the top door seals.
Let the window go all the way down and then clean the seals properly. They hold loads of dirt, grease and general rubbish.
I have heard of something called cerium oxide, which apparently can be used to Polish out glass scratches. I've never used it myself, but if you Google that, you get results for window polishing kits, so it must be the right stuff

Ace, thanks for the advice Ben. I'll have a look at it all this weekend.

Is it possible to get new window seals? I ask because mine have gone hard and have perished.
