DA polishing - outside?
Might be a daft question but is it ok to do this? Just wondered if air-bourne contaminents could do significant harm?

The car detailers around the corner from my work, are always using a polisher outside, and they have a really good rep, if that helps

I definitely wouldn't do a machine polish outside.
Imagine this. A spec of grit blown onto bodywork and pad spinning at any speed.
Disaster for paint.
At least in a still environment you have much less chance of contamination.
At your own peril.

IMHO never polish outside for the reasons Ammarube mentioned above. Not to mention making it harder to see the progress (dust, pollen and what not) but you run the risk of undoing all your work.
A good comprimise if you don't have a garage large enough is a car-gazeebo / pop up garage

This question popped up on the detailing forum a while ago, the answer was you just have to work with what you have got. If you have a garage or access to one, use it. If not, outside it is. I have done mine outside it did no harm at all, you do want to try and avoid direct sunlight though.

Yes it's fine as Rusty and Scooby said just avoid windy days and direct sunlight.
