However, if doing it as a micro-business is your aim then I think the certification is worthwhile, although most people tend to buy on user reviews these days.
pvr wrote: Thu Mar 29, 2018 4:12 pm That disappointed me as I was expecting air drying or the use of de-contaminated water as really the majority of swirl marks are introduced during the drying process, even more than during the washing cycle.
Interesting! I was just looking at air driers on Amazon last night. Doesn't seem like there is much out there that is very effective for reasonable money. One of mu Easter projects is actually to modify a leaf blower to add a filter and a wide thin nozzle to get an 'airblade'. I agree that drying is a pain. I usually take it for a quick spin after rinsing to get the majority of water off but you always risk picking up a bit of dust grit which you then drag across the paint with the microfibre. I'd be terrified to use one of those nasty silicone drying blade things :-o
Pet blower. No towels after polishing. Blow only. Adjustable with heat. Brilliant.
Any specific brand?

Can't remember to be honest. I get through 1 a year but use it everyday so it has a hard life. Think it was £58 delivered. Brilliant way of touchless drying. A good drying towel is £30 plus. Just to inflict damage after polishing.

I just sold my Carbon Black X5, and I can honestly say that it did not have any swirl marks. 6 years of distilled water and air drying only kept the car in the best possible condition. The same for the Z4M that Bing now has, again that had no swirls on it.

Gladly tell you about equipment, polish, sealants/waxes, paint gauges. I'm sure you get the picture.
Mainly do classics myself and have my clients so not wishing for anymore.

Anyway. Drop me a message if you like. Not far from you.

Russell.

Russell thankyou very much, once ive completed the training i would love to pick your brains alittle further , maybe i could come and spend a day with you so i know the best way to organise things in my shop , although it wont be the main service of my business it certainly will be popular i image, i will also be a one man band and dont wish to grow massively to the point where i need bigger premises or staff, once i reach comfortable workload for myself, i will be stopping at that point.

i will invest in a blower also!!! Another area im really excited to get into. Russell i will be in touch very soon!!!

Add a DI vessel as well and in combination with the blower the best of both worlds.

Russell ive just brought a pet dryer on your recommendation 2800W and theirs actual so many uses for this for me, i dont no why i didn't think of it sooner, i must say thanks to yourself and PVR as i simply wouldn't have used my brain enough to get to this solution. Apart from the use above, i can use this to blow off the car before a wrap, i can use it to dry the specific area after prepping for a wrap, this will be invaluable for me, save time and looks great to clients when they see the cars being air dried.

THANKS guys!!!!

Glad to be of help. Been in this business a very long time and hopefully I will never stop learning also.
Always a pleasure to pass what I have learned along the way to others.
The Vessel that PVR mentioned is as important as the blower to me also as no water spots to contend with.

interestedly the "PET" blowers are literally identical to the car blowers which cost 2-3 times more!!! i paid 57.99 for one of ebay with fantastic reviews, 2800 W variable speed, cold or warm / Hot temp ranges.

Just shows how much the Detailing supply industry is taking people for mugs. Been pet blowers around for years then someone decided to put a fancy name on one and sell it for £200.

The only difference I found was the length of the hose. Mine has the long hose, so I went for the expensive car one

Mine came with wheels, so I can wheel it around the car and wrap the hose over my shoulder to avoid any risk of the host falling / touching the car.
