windscreen smears!!!

I have got windscreen smears where the two blades overlap.
I have just bought new Bosch blades and the smears are still there.
I have cleaned the window with gtechniq g6 but it looks like the smear is coming back.
What can I do to get rid of it for good?

Do I need special cloths or is tissue paper better as it's more abrasive?

Is it smears or fine scratches from worn blades?
If the former then I'd use some good old domestic window cleaner or vinegar on a cotton cloth. Might be thicker deposits of rubber that take some removing

Recently bought these from Amazon as we needed a good smear free finish on bathroom mirrors, the dash wipes were a bonus but both products work very well and the glass wipes should "clear your smear"

It's not scratches but a small section where the two blades overlap.
I'll give the vinegar a try.
I've tried bar keepers friend, clay bar and a few other cleaners, but it keeps coming back.
Even a problem with gtechniq g5 sealant.

I used Cerium Oxide to get rid of a haze on the glass. With a machine polisher.

Yeh, it's probably something you need to polish out if the usual alcohol based cleaners don't touch it.

Cerium Oxide is the right stuff to use as PVR mentions but it's fairly pricey and you will need a polisher to do it well (ideally rotary but DA will probably suffice). Your arm will be killing doing it by hand and it's hard to be consistent.

Jewellers Rouge also works but it doesn't have as good cutting capability as Cerium oxide

Frost do a kit that you can use with a drill that has good reviews https://www.frost.co.uk/glass-polishing ... epair.html

I have the meguires headlight restoration kit. Will that work? It has 4 grades of wet/dry and a cutting compound liquid. Plus it has the drill attachment.

Got my MOT next week so don't want to risk a failure.

So I've cleaned the window with vinegar and a tea towel (cotton).
Rinsed off then cleaned again with gtechniq g6.

Let's see how that goes tomorrow on the way to work.
