Meguiars Ultimate Compound
I have quite a few scratches on my car from leaving it in a rough area for a little while (Managed to get a garage...thank god) and have quite a few new scratches...I was wondering if any of you have used Meguiars Ultimate Compound to get scratches out of your zeds before and whats your opinion on the product was.
I'm worried that it might cause my paint to become hazed. My car is Monaco blue which shows every little paint defect and these scratches are annoying me, I don't think they have gone through the clear coat as I cant feel them with my nails.
Thanks for your help, since I joined the forum I have had nothing but sound advice so thanks for that.

Hi, that’s a decent polish but unless you’ve got a machine polisher you’re going to be using elbow grease for a month of sundays, bmw clear coat is as hard as nailsEsper06 wrote: ↑Mon Oct 16, 2017 9:56 pm I have quite a few scratches on my car from leaving it in a rough area for a little while (Managed to get a garage...thank god) and have quite a few new scratches...I was wondering if any of you have used Meguiars Ultimate Compound to get scratches out of your zeds before and whats your opinion on the product was.

Yep, as above. You will need a dual action polisher to get any meaningful results.

Ive used it also but to state the obvious you paint needs to be clean and contaminate free before you start to use it or if you get stuck in with a D/A polisher you may end up with more swirls, plenty of how to's on youtube.

If you don't want to use a DA, then just go with Poorboys blackhole to 'fill' in the scratches. It does a pretty good job, smells lovely and gives a great shine.

...it's also ridiculously easy to apply and remove which makes it a great product for minor swirl marks. You will find it's gone in a couple of washes though and you are back to square one.Angelus666 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 17, 2017 4:45 pm If you don't want to use a DA, then just go with Poorboys blackhole to 'fill' in the scratches. A bit of sealant over the top after does the job of keeping it locked in!

As a filler,Poorboys has been supeceeded .....Although still a good product.
I find 50 cal filler glaze to be much better, but there is a new kid on the block called Autoglanz Supernova. I havent actually tried it yet but reviews look good.

Autoglanz Supernova. Just had a look on their own site and gets very mixed reviews .
Will be sticking with Poorboys blackhole and as Angelus66 says a bit of Autoglym sealant over the top to lock it in.
PS Don,t forget to give it a final coat or two of a good quality wax for the showroom deep shine.

I have used Meguiars on my last couple of black cars and thought it was OK, until I used this

Good find. Sonax cutmax is also hugely impressive. In a different league to Megs in terms of cutting ability but also finishes down unbelievably well. http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/car-polis ... _1410.html

mmmm, interesting, but are these a little abrasive for swirls?ph001 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 1:28 pmGood find. Sonax cutmax is also hugely impressive. Not on a bmw, you need an agressive compound to get anywhere. I would use a finishing polish after the cutmax though just to enhance the gloss level.
