Photogenic Midlands roads wanted

Post by LichMike » Sat Nov 07, 2020 6:14 pm

Hi

Wondering if anyone knows of any good roads for getting good photos of our pride and joys.

I’m in Lichfield, and headed out this afternoon towards Blithfield Reservoir then on to Rocester and Alton. Nice driving roads but really struggled for quiet spots to pull over for a nice autumnal shot of the Zed.

Anyone got any favourite spots?

Cannock Chase might work. I can't think of anywhere that you can get a great view in behind the car, but there are plenty of places to pull over or park in the Chase and the scenery is still quite nice. There's several off Chase Road, for example.

the Ironbridge area is nice, you'd need to be early though to get the zed without the tourists in the background

Thanks for the tips guys. Couple more for the bank.

I headed up past Alton then North West towards the Cat and Fiddle at the weekend. Certainly gave me and the zed some fresh air with the roof down!

I took mine for an MOT today so was on the long route home. You might get a nice shot either at Aston Marina (when it reopens) or in Sandon/around Sandon Hall. The buildings are nice at the latter so if you're creative, it could work well.

Thanks for the suggestion, don’t think I’ll get chance to head out in the zed this weekend, but food for thought.

Trust your MOT went OK?

Yes, thanks - it went straight through with no advisories. I would have been surprised if it hadn't, though, given the scheduled and unscheduled maintenance it had earlier in the year. Unfortunately, with the whole pandemic situation, its only done about 800 miles all year :(
