Surrey/Berks/Hants Meet - Sunday 13 September 2020

Mr Tidy

Lifer
So the next classic car meet at the The Black Swan that we often tag along to will be a week tomorrow for anyone who fancies an early drive out in their Z4, subject to the weather of course.

Full details are The Black Swan, Old Lane, Ockham, Surrey. KT11 1NG. Phone: 01932 862364. (Old Lane is a turning off the slip-road onto the Southbound A3 just after J10 of the M25).

They open at 08.30 for breakfast, bacon rolls, tea and coffee but it has been packed out since they reopened so it's probably worth getting there early.

We usually meet up at Ockham Bites at the beginning of Old Lane for a coffee, bacon butty, etc. to avoid the potentially long catering queues at the Black Swan! So if anyone fancies doing the same I think they ought to aim to be at Ockham Bites a bit earlier than previously, say 07.45, and that way our Z4s should get to park together if arriving before 08.30.

If anyone wants to turn up a bit later then just go straight to the Black Swan. Some people start leaving around 10 and others are still arriving, although it's pretty much over by 11 as the venue starts to focus on it's lunch-time trade.

Hopefully I'll see some of you there.

So with new restrictions happening from Monday this could potentially be the last meet for the foreseeable future....as long as it still goes ahead.

I don't see why this shouldn't go ahead as pubs are being allowed to stay open, the new rules don't come into force until the next day and given that most of it takes place in a field there is no problem with maintaining social distancing!

And it may be our last chance to go to this sort of event for a while - but hopefully not.

But I will call them in the next day or two just to confirm.

Ah I’ve often seen a flurry of classics around the A3 area and never knew why!

Is this still going ahead? Never actually been to a “meet”, never had anything worth meeting in, the old F30 wasn’t especially “special” but this might be an opportunity to do so if you’ll accept a G29 joining

A G29 is a Z4 so it obviously qualifies, and we'd like to see one - yours would be the first to join us!

I can't see why it shouldn't go ahead, but I will call them tomorrow to check and will post an update on this thread.

Surely, If one believed the government then you wouldn't wait for the rule to come in one as would adopt said rule as soon as uttered by our leader because he has our interests at heart, init?

I called the Black Swan earlier and they have confirmed that this meet will go ahead on Sunday, although sadly it will be the last one for the foreseeable future. :(

This is sad but has helped me to decide I should pop down and check out the classics whilst I still can!

 Excellent news, The Wife and I will pop down then and say hello! I am very much enjoying being a Z4 owner!

Was great to see a range of lovely Zed’s
Let’s hope it won’t be too long until we can have meets large or small again.

Well we did quite well today. We had 8 Z4s and 5 were Coupes - where were all the Roadster owners on a lovely sunny day?

If anything there were more cars in the field than last month - maybe people were keen to make the most of what seems to be the last one fo some time.

Anyway this being Z4forum here are a few Z4 photos as I remembered to take them before people started leaving this time.

A mix of British cars.

I only included the last two because my Dad had an Austin A40 from when I was born until I was 8, and I bought a Rover 3500S in 1979 - my only V8 so far!

And lastly a really weird one. When did you last see 4 DeLoreans in the same place? There was actually a 5th but it was parked too far away to get it in the same shot. That has to be some sort of record!
