Any plans for Cotswold BMW 2020??

Post by JoshsZ4M » Fri Jan 17, 2020 9:09 am

I paid a very productive visit to Cotswold BMW over in Cheltenham recently to have my 5’er serviced, and met the fleet salesman, who promptly shared that he too had a love of Z4’s 🙌

We got chatting at length, and he reminded me of the Z4 day which ran last year... I was just wondering if anyone was making plans for this again this year? If so I would absolutely be down!! Cotswold BMW is an amazing site and definitely worth a visit for anyone who’s not been before.

Didn’t want to tread on anyone’s toes, so thought it best to ask here as I can’t see a new forum topic on it 😊👍

Hi Josh,
That was probably Gareth you were speaking to. He owns an immaculate silver 2.0L

I organised the event at Cotswold last year a few weeks after the launch of the new G29 Z4. Other than the weather it was a great day and well supported with about 45 Z4's in attendance.

At the time, my daughter was working for them, so it was easy to do and they were obviously keen to show off the new model to persepective buyers too. My issue in organising the event at Cotswold again this year, is that not only has my daughter now transferred to Dick Lovett, but I also have a part time job there too.

Therefore, if we do hold such an event, it's likely to be held back at Dick Lovetts, Bristol. (However it would be great to start at one and finish at the other, with a drive via the Wye Valley)

Here is the thread from last years event : -

Watch this space and I'll post any updates if anything gets underway.

It would for us but maybe a conflict of interest for the Dealerships. I'll make some enquiries at Lovetts over the next few weeks but if any event happens it's more likely to be June, rather than April as in previous years

Number5, brilliant! I remember reading the previous thread and seeing the photos. Would be fantastic to organise something. Yes, Gareth is a lovely guy, and his e85 is indeed immaculate 😉

Gareth sounded as if he might be up for helping make something work... I need to give him a call about 5-series’ fairly soon so I’ll be sure to drop it in again if you like?

Alternatively, firebobby’s suggestion of point to point would be a brilliant day!

Me and the girlfriend had a great time last year and was great to meet so many people we would definitely be interested in attending something similar this year!

All car showrooms are currently closed and with the Social distancing rules to continue I wouldn't think this is going to be possible at all this year. Showrooms are planning to open shortly but with limited numbers of customers allowed in and one way systems around the cars, like Supermarkets. All cars are locked to avoid people sitting in and touching controls etc with only serious buyers permitted. They are currently trying to push the digital/on-line sales initially with pre-booked visits as a later stage in the purchase

I cant see 100 people turning up for a jolly being high on their priority list at the moment !

I may organise something for Spring 2021 but more than likely it will be at Dick Lovett, Bristol

A shame this year couldn't go ahead, was hoping to do one more before my MC went to a new home.

Hopefully you'll still let me tag along next year as an honourary member :)
2006/56 Z4MC now sold!

2015/65 F Type R Coupe AWD arrived!
