Well since the local County show is cancelled I think you are in a declining group of optimists..

You may be right that it won't go ahead but the Cumberland Show would be 3 weeks earlier and have hundreds in attendance and take a lot more organising. Lockdown may be relaxed a little by July to allow driving again. It would depend whether the hotel and campsite was open. 2m distance rules could still work if still required, packed lunches, lots of shouting, maybe a smaller group, it'd be a laugh. If it doesn't happen it's not the end of the world there's always next year. Miss it though.

Lots of discussion on how to relax the clampdown at some point...I think bars/hotels/campsites will be a long way down the queue of institutions to be opened..

I wear glasses and have always found it's hard to be optimistic with a misty optic :D

Peter you have to remember that hotels and especially campsite/caravan parks use the summer for their bread and butter, if they are allowed to open, they will

Let’s just wait and see closer to the time, after all it’s only the start of April

Hello I have the deepest sympathy for everyone that has already been badly affected by either the health and/or economic and/or social impacts

My wife had returned to the NHS to assist so we’re aware of many of the issues and see the consequences of this pandemic.

I certainly do not wish to deprive anyone of the ability to earn a crust as soon as they can.

You raise a very good point and I guess there are at least two views

One view is to preemptively cancel things people could argue maybe prematurely

Another is to accept that the world has changed and re cast a plan

My personal view is that the world has changed arguably in a way that will mean all things will be forever and in unpredictable ways

So IMHO kick into touch when realistically the plan has failed and get ready to plan for a different way of achieving some of the tings you did hope to achieve

So I’m not saying that there should be no plan to enjoy Zeding but accept it may we’ll have to be novel / innovative / creative

Having been in an industry where we plan to achieve better than 1 in 10,000,000,000 fatality rate I can’t see us in the next 3 months accepting a fatality rate of 1 in 6,700 as acceptable loss rate for the hospitality industry to get back to where we are

There are 17m people over 60 that powers a lot of the travel/hospitality industry...given their medical prognosis in the event of a COVID-19 infection I’d be surprised if they will be rushing to hotels/campsites given the likely risk profile in those areas..

Just to Update things....
Amongst all the doomsayers..
(And if you think that I am not taking it seriously, I am/a friend of mine had it and it nearly killed him, given his existing state of health, Plus I am following the Lockdown limitations, when some others aren't).

The Hotel has cancelled all bookings up to May,but are keeping our Booking live for the Friday night meal and our reserved rooms.
They, like the Campsite are just waiting on the Government to lift the closure order.

Now,with this in mind, and the fact that its been widely mentioned by business analysts, etc that many hundreds of successful, profitable businesses will go under ,such as Bars,Restaurant chains,Hotels, etc etc if closure orders aren't lifted by June at least, then I think that's what is most likely, as do many businesses.

Only the government know for sure, but this is the most likely scenario.
So we should be fine.
I am planning going as long as there is a place to stay open :D :driving:
Will keep you all updated, those who are planning on still attending

the economy can’t afford to stay locked down for to long, the government will run out of money first. Could do with a Vaccine though
