National drive it day 2019 - DONE IT

Post by Crazy Harry » Thu Apr 25, 2019 3:56 pm

Its this years Drive it Day on Sunday 28th April so what are you classics guys getting out of the garage?

I'm just back from putting a fresh MOT on my Caterham (can't use the 'duchess' until I get the hub nuts and bumpers back from the chrome plating company) and can't wait to get with all those other owners in North Norfolk.

Getting ready for the off last year

Looks amazing! There's a Classic Car thing down our way this weekend, so will be going to have a look around. Sadly I don't have a classic to get out of the garage at the moment but I'm working on it :D :driving:

  - bit of stretch for us boys down in East Anglia. If the weather doesn't pick up here for Sunday it'll be one less Caterham and one more Zed on our run. Caterham with the hood on is a real bu99er to get in and out off and mine has never been anything like water tight

Oh don't be nesh ! :D Go in the Caterham whether it's raining or not. The faster you go the more it just blows over the car and doesn't wet you. A few years back I used to have a MK Indyblade

I drove this quite a few times in fairly heavy rain and the only thing that really got wet was my right elbow. No roof, no weather gear, not even a windscreen ! :D

National drive it day 2019 - DONE IT

Post by Crazy Harry » Sun Apr 28, 2019 5:15 pm

Well done it for this year - not the best start to the day. With no top or side screens the early showers on the Norfolk coast were a bit of a challenge -wetter than an otters pocket

Dried up a bit by the time we got to Sandringham and even a few spells of sun shine. How did your days drive go then?

Very well. Dry and reasonably sunny and warm at Kielder Water today. I was in one of the E46's though, not the Z4C.

National drive it day 2019 - DONE IT

Post by buzyg » Sun Apr 28, 2019 9:46 pm

Not a good driving day today.

Plan A. Sister down this way from Liverpool returning today. :) Drive up to the moors, show her the Blue Bell wood at Burrator. A little lunch at the old Police Station, in Prince town. Hug and wish her on her way North. Pleasant drive back home. :driving:

Actual day. Sister phoned at 07:30am. See you at 10:00. Get up, bit of breaky, trip to the tip, ready to go.

Sister phoned at 10:30, car just made a loud bang. Seems ok. Me, Ok pull over, where are you. About a mile from you. So I drove up to her. By which time of course she was at our house. Women.

Then she shows me a piece of Spring. :o Found this in the road after the bang. Ok your not driving home in that. Call the truck.

So being a single women, 320 mile from home in a broken car. What do you say.

Hi my car has boken down. I need to get to Ormskirk. Ok so far. Where are you madam. I am parked at my Brother's house. :headbang:

So you can guess what didn't happen next. :tumbleweed: 18:30 some on finally turned up.

Still I got the easy end of that. Sis will still be on the road for a few hours yet.

Wasted day, first world problems ahy. :)
