Please see the Photo Post in the gallery section for post event pictures.
The date is SUNDAY 2nd JUNE and I am delighted to announce that this year we will be kindly hosted by COTSWOLD BMW at their fantastic 3 storey BMW & Mini Showroom on the outskirts of Cheltenham, (GL51 6UP).
They will also dedicate the exclusive use of their underground service parking area to us and upstairs we can enjoy a browse of both the new and classic cars on show, including the new G29 Z4, whilst enjoying free refreshments.
Just one of the Classic Cars on display
The Showroom will be our starting point before we all take a leisurely drive through the counties of Gloucestershire before crossing over the border into Monmouthshire and returning to a large pub for a late lunch to conclude the afternoon
I am working on the route but estimate that the route will be about an 80/90 mile scenic drive along good roads and beautiful countryside, over approximately 3 hours ideally with a mid stop to re-group.
Yet to be finalised but the provisional itinerary will be along the lines of:
09:00 Meet at Cotswold BMW, Cheltenham
10:30 Depart From the Showroom in batches of 10 cars heading towards Chepstow, via Ross & Monmouth
12:30 Possible re-gathering at Chepstow for group photo
13:30 2nd Half of Drive through Wye Valley and Forrest of Dean
14:30 End of run at Pub for Lunch, Near Gloucester.
16:00 Finish and depart for home.
Possible Route (50 mph Speed Camera locations shown as Yellow squares)
I've added a short list of local Hotels near the Showroom for those looking to make a weekend of it, but in order that I can make all of the necessary plans and arrangements, can you please confirm if you wish to attend and I will continue to edit the attendees list below.
Suggestions
Travelodge Cheltenham GL51 6TA (next door to BMW)
Premier Inn Cheltenham West - GL51 7AY
or a little more classy....
Jury's Inn GL51 0TS (has Spa & Health Centre & opposite BMW. £102 B&B)
Doubletree Hilton Spa Hotel GL53 8EA
Cheltenham Chase Spa Hotel GL3 4PB
Hotel du Vin GL50 3AH
Thanks
Alan
Well done everyone - I think we've reached 50 cars now. This is going to be quite some event.
I'll spend the next few weeks liaising with Cotswold BMW on the arrangements for the morning and also checking the out the latest updates or problems with the planned route.
As in previous years, I will split the cars into smaller groups, each with a group leader and dispatched at 5min intervals from the showroom so its easier to stay together. I'll also be handing out sheets on the day with the final route and regular navigations points, so that anyone who gets lost can quickly get back on route.
Now we just need the weather to be on our side...

A few of us drove the route this morning and all went well. We completed it in just under 2 hours, but I'm sure with higher number of cars it will take a little longer. I will also bring plenty of copies of the final route map for you to take with you on the day, just in case you become detached from the group.
