Nice. Is that C4S a recent purchase?

Got it in April. Put a bit of money in as an investment with my dad, hes got a 991 Cs and wanted to keep the mileage off it and has spare garage. wanted a weekender but didnt want to spend a fortune because the house is a bit of a project. The 4s wont fit in my garage currently which was the stumbling block for me, but neither will a boxster because Ive got the washing machine / dryer in the back so length is an issue. An E89 would have been touching the machines so I wouldnt be able to use them, getting the car in and out to put the washing on would be a ball ache. E85/6 would fit but I didn't really fancy another Z. He found the car it and suggested it and thought it was a good idea to split it with the intention of doing shows, road trips etc

Used to do this with the Z or his 997/991 but this way everything's halves and not too much of a wallet ding if something goes wrong. We had the major things done before hand over, cameras down the bores to check for scoring which was fine, IMS RMS and clutch and flywheel replacement, so its good to go. Its had 15k spent on it since winter 2015 not including the work we've had done, so fingers crossed should be good for a while yet. Its got a couple of niggles but its 14 years old so you have to expect that.

Always wanted a 996 4s coupe nearly bought one instead of the M but it was a little bit of a stretch at the time. I was worried about running costs. Controversial but I think the 996 has the best rear of all the 911s. It has enough modern features but has all the mechanical rawness the newer ones lack like the 991.

After having the Boxster S for a short while it was a revelation having the roof down option as I never saw the point before. Although the vert isnt the most sought after or the best drivers tool its more of a weekender, gt tourer and will never see a track so decided to go for it. The verts are also quite a bit cheaper so that worked to getting a great example. Its a really nice one, rare colour as they were all grey, silver or black. Also has some nice touches like the colour coded interior cover. With pretty much every option including the sports exhaust which just sounds fantastic with the roof down.

Really enjoying it! Although I love the Z, its a completely different experience. Plus like the Z is free motoring, its unlikely we willl loose money.

Just nice as a bit of a joint venture, the cars have always been a big part of my childhood so its a nice excuse for some father son time. Really looking forward to the weekend. :D

Sound choice! My mate had a similar “joint venture” on a 997 C4S that I was lucky enough to drive on the NC500.

They are such accomplished machines - even the “soft” convertibles. Many people find 911s boring but you can comfortably get them dancing about in the corners or under braking in a “fun” way, where a stock Z4M would be well into brown trouser territory.

My only reservations about the 996 were the interior/exterior looks but it’s funny how these things go in phases. They are starting to look pretty good again. Especially the Turbo.

Would love to do the NC500, definitely on my list I bet it was fantastic.

Its all down to preference and how much you will use it I suppose. Although the headlights are marmite I love that its modern but retro at the same time. The interior is a bit dated but its all really functional and it has all the stuff you need Bose is great, cruise and the nav can take the new maps.

In dream world I would like to get into a 997.2 4S, will just have to see if the bubble bursts then they may become a little more affordable. For what we paid the 996 was a lot of car for the money. I think the 911s take a while to get used to, they are so different to other cars because they are essentially backward with the engine in the rear and many do feel they are antiquated but once you get used to them they are so rewarding.

Then again if I had you Z4M I think I would be quite happy. The spec I always wanted just very difficult to find!

Hi Cathia777
It's this weekend. You might just still be able to get tickets but I think sales stop tonight although that might just be online, not sure.

I'll be on the BMWCC stand with my Z4MR on Saturday.
Been the last two years on Sunday so the 1st time for me on a Saturday. It's a really amazing event and last year being in the pits so close to the race cars was just epic. For those wanting to go next year it's worth joining the BMW Car Club just for the 2 for 1 car club deal which saves you enough to pay for the membership... and you get the straight Six monthly mag in the post as a bonus.
Z4MR E85 for sunny day Hooning. 8)
Now with added joy of Gruppe M.
