Launching a new European Driving Tour Rally

Post by shuey » Sat Jul 14, 2018 12:18 am

Hey all

I'm looking to start a new driving tour rally across Europe and was wondering if you guys wouldn't mind answering a questionnaire and get your thoughts on what would appeal to you for a fully organised driving tour.

Think the type of road trips that Clarkson, Hammond and May have been on, but in we would be using our own car's.

The questionnaire
https://goo.gl/forms/P1xrqeBTBeNSbk9D3

A bit of background
I'm aiming to create an aspirational tour that both appeals to the every day car enthusiasts but minus the astronomical costs often associated with a rally. I want to focus on people with sports cars (bmw's M cars and any enthusiast car, Z4s, 2 & 4 series, Porsche Caymans, Boxters, Nissan 370z's, Merc C Coupes, SLKs, Lotus Elises and anything rare, or classic or coupe / roadster. Obviously supercars and higher end cars are more than welcome, but they are probably happier doing the Gumball or Canonball Run. My focus would be make touring Europe as cost effective as poss, without sacrificing quality.

Test run
I'm thinking of doing a test run by myself towards end of August / September in preparation for a full launch early Spring next year. And anyone who wants to join on a test run would be more than welcome. (thinking 7 days roughly - most likely through France, Germany and possibly further once I've researched a bit more).

Thanks in advance
Anyway in the mean time I'd appreciate if you guys could fill in the following questionnaire - and also forward onto any car enthusiasts you think would be interested in a road rally / driving tour. And if anyone is interested in a Europe tour

PS: Just skip the first page, if your happy to just fill out the survey.

I've yet to go on a Z4 meet as I've only just bought an e86 and still a newbie but hoping to join a drive next weekend in Yorkshire.

Thanks all

Thanks mr wilks, yeh I have a good idea on how I want to set it up, as I’ve toured a few countries myself. But just want to get a consensus on what other people want, and what everyone’s priorities are - hence the questionnaire :)

Will check it out tho. Found another awesome experience by THE GREAT RALLY - but I still think a little expensive, but by no means out of reach

Went on The Great Rally in 2016.
I thought it was poorly run and expensive for what it was.
Not much involvement from the organisers.
One example was meeting outside the Merc museum on the Monday morning and then finding out museums close on Monday.

The questionnaire was hard work. Several questions had no option I preferred. Good luck with your venture.

Yeh I had a look at theirs, there film seemed awesome but agree with you on the expense. Anyway I'm aiming to create something more accessible. My take on it is that most companies are focusing on maximising profit. I'm actually more doing this for my own fun... with profit being secondary to delivering an awesome experience.

What do you consider the effects of Brexit may be on this adventure? Hard to say I know but worth keeping in mind.

Thanks man, yeh just trying to get a decent mixture of different cars together at mo. got quite a few interested people from the questionnaire so let’s see how I progress.

Wanted to get a Welsh trip sorted this year, but I think I’ve left it a little late in terms of weather - most interest is for the Dubai and European run next year.
