Planes,Trains & Automobiles

Post by Stuartt » Sat Mar 17, 2018 10:32 pm

Well my day started at 06:30 with this when myself and Mrs T arrived at the airport.

Wondering if it would get off the ground was mighty impressed at the acceleration down the runway and into the air.

After an hourlong flight we landed at Manchester Airport and a ten minute walk to the train station for the first of our 2 trains and a tram journey.

Then to arrive at our final station and met by mr Wilks in his DD for the short trip to his house to finish the deal that was sparked some 7 months ago when he introduced us all to Zed number 10 and I threw my hat in the ring to become it’s owner when he moved it on.

Over the last few weeks of talking with Andy I had got the impression he was going to be sad to let this one go, so rather than prolong the agony and after a quick walk around the deal was done, and we were off for the 260 mile road trip back down south.

So due to the weather change the planned drive across the Peak District had to be abandoned so we headed for the M6 and the impending blizzards.

A steady 70mph for most of the trip returned 31mpg which was a pleasant surprise, not much of a chance to push it due to the weather and an unfamiliar car but once the conditions improve and I’ve got more used to how it delivers the massive amounts of power it has on tap I think it’s going to a perfect match for me.

So I’d like to thank Andy for staying true to his word and giving me first refusal, and for supplying such a well sorted fine example of a 35i I could ever wish to be the owner of.
A pic from one of the services we stopped at on the way back.

Sorry the pics are mostly on their side but bugger knows how you get them the right way up :headbang: perhaps Marlon will sort them out for me :D

If you’ve made it this far THANKS for reading, and I can HIGHLY RECOMMEND a mr wilks pre owned car.

Glad all went well on route home Stuart , you probably guessed i wouldn't have been upset if you had backed out of the deal which is why i didn't want a deposit  genuinely happy the car has gone to a appreciative home , its a great example & i'm sure you will be content with it .
The numbers (370bhp /400lb torque) might suggest lairy but i always found it a refined & composed car but given the opportunity to push down the right foot & :driving: a brute that pulls relentless to the point you soon bottle out , it proved its credentials last year in France up against ZMRs out in the lanes really pushing on into 3 digits :driving: more than capable of leading the pack
Id be surprised if i don't own another in the future as £ for £ i can't see anything from any marque that even gets close to the performance , year , spec & build of a twin turbo 89  enjoy it mate :)
