The exuberance of youth. :D We take up the journey from Bwlch Ciliua, as we join the Watkins path in the saddle between Lliwedd and Snowdon. It's 1000ft to the summit from here or 1000ft straight down, if Edd takes tree steps back ward. :o

As we head up into the clouds we discover the Watkins path is torturous route today. Steep loose scree, covered with compacted snow. Wished I had my micro spike with me. Can't say it was my favourite bit of the weekend. But after over an hour of cautious scrambling we turn on to the summit ridge and the, very man made looking, peak of snowdon appears through the dampness.

Smiles all around and Edd looking a tad fresher for his exertions, than his old man. :D

Still no visibility at all on Crib Goch, so we head off down the Pyg trail. The first few hundred meters are both great fun and a little scetchy, as we slither our way down. Skating on one foot with the other straight out in front worked a treat for the straight bits. Just remember to stop for the corners it's still a long way down.

As we emerged from the cloud the views were still captivating.

The view from our final Tea break spot, before the short walk back down to the waiting Zed.

After a great day on the mountain, the Zed looked like an inviting home for the next few hours, as we packed up and waved good by to the Hostel.

After the tedium of the M6 on the way up, the decision was quickly made to head across country for the trip home. So at Betws Y Coed we turned South on to the A470. What a fantastic piece of tarmac. Mile after mile of well sighted sinuous road stretching all the way down to the Brecon Beacons and to top it all off we were 30 mins quicker than on the motorway travelling up.

Wales... what a great place for an adventure.:driving: :D

North Wales is God's country if you like the outdoors, never mind what RickRob says :D Sounds like you had a challenging but enjoyable time. These days I like to pick decent weather to go up the mountains,I've got the right equipment but not the stamina.

Funny you say that. The only proper mountains around here are Yes Tor and High Willhays. Headed up them both yesterday in beautiful sunshine. Being local to me I have seldom been up them in poor weather. Beggars can't be choosers when you are on someone else's patch though. :D
