"Reduction in price to move hood motor into boot"

Post by cherrym » Fri Apr 01, 2016 10:43 pm

My mechanic Dave has moved enough of these now so that he can do it in a couple of hours. So for a finished job he will now do it for £80.00 to Forum members.
At this price is it worth trying to do it yourself?
His mobile is 07864 860960.
Previous post by Paulgs1000 shows the finished article which is very neat.
Hope this helps you all out.

Ive done a couple and I wouldnt entertain it for £80. Too much risk and liability.
He must have found a way to do this confidently without taking the roof out completely ?

No need to take the roof off or distort it at all.He is a very competent self employed motor mechanic and has this well sorted out.
Just had new front struts fitted by him this morning (Sachs OE) and very satisfied with the result.

Blimey. At that price it would be worth driving a 500 mile round trip and staying in a Travelodge!!

I can wholeheartedly support what cherrym is saying. For those that have their cars outside all of the time in our b awful climate it's a no brainer. The job he does is excellent and for what he is charging well it's even worth travelling a few miles .
You might even be able to take in one of the NE hoons if your lucky. I'm more than willing to show you some of our fantastic roads after you had your roof done , just drop me a pm when you're coming and I'll try to accommodate you.

I have just spoken to Dave and arranged to go over in a few weeks time to have my motor relocated to the boot. I had the motor replaced just over a year ago, but am paranoid about. Every time it rains I check that the roof drains are working. Dave has said a Saturday morning is no problem which is great as it is a long journey across from Lytham, but well worth it. Just need to sort out a nice cover with Cherrym!!!!

When you guys have had the motor relocated, does it sound different in operation?
Louder, quieter, different pitch or is it just the same?
thanks

With regards to any increase in noise etc, I certainly haven't noticed a great difference, but in any case the advantage you get far outways the very minor differences.
He is based in Esh Winning, County Durham.

I haven't noticed the motor noise either, but for the few seconds that it's doing it's thing, I wouldn't worry if it was horrendously load...which it isn't

As I've said before extra noise for 10 secs I can cope with, roof motor buggering up I can't cope with. However that's a long drive for me from south london.
