New business in the automotive sector!!

Good luck with the venture. All I'd suggest from a marketing perspective is to fully commit to making quality content for YouTube (so check out a few video production lessons). Get that right and it'll create demand and allow you to show why you can charge a decent rate for a decent job!

Good luck dude.
Met you at Zedfest 2016 and we had a chat about detailing. Loved your Z4 (special).
Nice pleasant guy who comes across very genuine. This will stand you in good stead for the future.
Good luck again pal.

Congrats m8... Trade licence, just download the forms and send them off to DVLA with a cheque and copy of either your motor trade policy, or public liability cert (don't send originals) and they will "eventually" send your plates out..

Mega grats :)

Does PPF fitting overlap almost interchangeably with wrapping? Hopefully you've got a social media plan to build a customer base - can't beat instagram pics of wrapped cars

Thanks for this buddy , do you see any use in me having trade plates as this is where im unsure, they aren't expensive and i appears ill be taking cars off site, ( private customers willl come to me of course ) but ill be targeting the dealers i think for volume, im guessing im going to need some sort of facility to be able to take the cars with me, the conditions aren't really the best at the workshops of the dealers to be able to work on site ( cold, dustyetc)

yes and no..... some different techniques used but the principle remains the same bar PPF is a wet application, my little z4m will be finally earning me some crust as it will be the face of " PPF" for the business, im currently working hard on the social media side of things and getting myself up to speed, once i do ill release all the details for everyone so you can check it out, im alittle rusty but its getting ALOT better..... i must be one of the few people thats only just opened a FB account but i can see for my business its going to be essential, the FB and insta business facilities are amazing actually!!

Handy for stuff that isn't taxed and MOT'd, although there is no real exemption for the MOT side of it, "most" coppers" will ignore it if it's on "red & whites" OBVS, if you are doing demos or unregistered vehicles, then you'll need them. For the cost they are a no brainer. I've actually cancelled the tax on my van, and as I'm either driving it, or it's parked on private land at home or outside the shop, I use them in it all the time now.

thanks mike, plates were ordered yesterday !! working hours currently up to around 80 PW.... :D :D :D :D :D :D

But its not like work!!! lol!! will be touring all the car shows etc trying to gain brand awareness, if i can gain a rep with the dealers then the private stuff should hopefully come in its own time, on the side also doing a course for new startups that work with me and help with marketing, forecast projections etc, i am going at this totally clean slate and learning about business TODAY.... Loads of blips on the way to this but really enjoying it so far!!

As an update to this......

The social media side is now up and running, not much going on at the moment but ive put some basic posts up im totally new to social media bar insta so im slow but getting much better , the unit has been a nightmare to sort, nothing short of a nightmare to signed up on and literally the costs for them is massive, i then came across a council unit and we agreed a price then at the last minute they said they dont want any car maintenance being done from the unit , we then had weeks of back and forth as to what is car repairs Vs what im doing.... bloody PAINFUL. Finally managed to secure the unit after they changed their mind, i SHOULD have the keys within a few weeks, once the unit is renovated ill be getting out to the dealers to offer wrapping, PPF, detailing work , audi's first cars should be hitting July/august time!!! Ive now passed my wrap and PPF certification and really am able to offer some quality work now, if alittle slow, im sure ill get faster as time goes on!! The detailing qual is next and whatever needs to be done for me to pass and gain A********* lol ill be doing it, once again im going for actual qualifications as i feel this offers credibility. im also going to book into KDS and do their wet sanding courses at eye watering costs but i want to invest properly and be a force here in the midlands, i've purchased 98% of the tooling required to offer my services, my back room in the house is FULL of equipment. lol!! i love getting all the deliveries and playing with the new stuff! Im now waiting for some work uniforms to arrive as im going for full professionalism from the off, not me in my tracksuit, that image and professionalism is very important to me, its going to take m=time to build the rep i want.

So next up is the unit which is located by star city not the best but close to motorway networks and its a great starter place i can always upgrade when the business starts to do well , its not massive at 561 Sq ft and it falls in small business rates relief ( 4-5 garage block sized) , small but i'm a one man band, and intend to keep it small, i dont want staff at all!!! i will probably hold some sunday BBQs at the shop if anyones interested, the z4 will be at the shop also if anyone wants to come and have a nose... Would LOVE to see some of you guys pop in for a cuppa in the future, you are always welcome!!

im currently attending the free google business drive to get abit better with the social media side and building my own website which is looking really good actually, so once that completed ill release the beta and get you guys to run through some ideas with me if anyone can spare the time, the Website landing page is
www.topwrapz.com my facebook is top wrapz ltd all the social media links are on my landing site so please be sure to add me and keep an eye on developments share my links and help me grow my network that would be an awesome start, cant say when official launch will be but im hoping the shop will be fully up and running by june, mid june, but every single deadline i set seems to move by 2-3 weeks easily.... so ive stopped making promises.

Really lastly just wanted to thank the z4 community, iv loved being a part of this site tbh and love the cars , as a thank-you to the site i'm going to offer some wrap, ppf or detail work for free for a small website donation to z4 forum, i think they deserve it.

For anyone interested thanks for taking the time to read my boring bit of news! The unit searching has REALLY being the difficult part, and im praying nothing goes wrong i just want the keys!!!!!!!! council are a nightmare to deal with also, sometimes it takes them 3 weeks to reply to a phone call or email!!

i will not give up , this is a dream of mine and im loving the road, investment up to this point has been significant. If anyone can think of related services that can be done let me no i can look into it, would love some ideas...

EDIT ; i will also be offering some graphic work for commercial and full print wraps e.g think british gas, DPD for ideas on what these look like, im in discussion with a designer in Germany who makes some of the most incredible livery and designs and does all the weathered looking porsche and vw wrap designs they look insane.

PPF will also be offered for bike and byclcyes and their will be a dedicated section on the website to this, this stuff has literally kept my stump jumper looking brand new despite living a very hard life on the trails.

Thanks once again!
