The running boards are possibly aluminium with approx 100 rubber plugs in each of them to give some grip if they are stood on.
Its quite difficult to polish/clean these properly and quickly.
Apparently the rubber plugs do come out, but not easily and with there being around 200 in total thats not going to be quick either.

Just caught up with this. Congrats on the award and for keeping the Zed Nice job on that massive van roof... and good luck with the X6 running boards. F*cking SUVs and their staircases!
I love it how model-specific knowledge starts to rack up when you're in the trade. My car was in for an alignment the other day and the guy just went straight in for the RTAB carrier bolts with an extended socket without taking any of the trim panels off. Hit all three bolts first time via the drainage slot and the whole carrier adjustment took about a minute. You don't get to that level quickly!

what do you charge to wrap a Z4? i know it depends on the wrap but a ball park figure. i'm in glasgow so would need to factor in driving down the day before staying in a hotel nearby then dropping off. is it a 1 day job?Beedub wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 12:40 pmthanks man!! sooo true.... i love getting the Z4s in as i find them so easy to navigate and dismantle.....MrPT wrote: ↑Wed Jul 10, 2019 10:24 am Just caught up with this. I appreciate you getting back to me. The car is 16 years old. Worth £4k going by auto trader and forum listings. It doesn't make any sense to spend that kind of money on it now other than maintenance and repairs. Had it been below £1K I would have likely went for it. I suppose it is what it is. If I buy a new car or something more valuable I'll definitely keep you in mind.Beedub wrote: ↑Thu Jul 18, 2019 9:07 pmwith the forum discount i reckon i could get it under 1850 even with top end film..... it would take me around 2 days... which would be 1 evening in a hotel.... totally understand, however if you find a back street place and use chineese vinyl you will get it at a grand no doubt.... but i wouldnt recommend tbh... and i wont use cheap vinyl in my business as i see all the bad bits of vinyl what few get to see!SonnyA85 wrote: ↑Fri Jul 19, 2019 9:54 amI appreciate you getting back to me.
