Any advice? I have already tried floss and pry bar, the emblem did not come out even a bit.

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
Is it fastned in the same as the the E85 where you pull the grille out and undo a couple of self tapping nuts on the rear of the badge that hold it in on 2 plastic legs?

The new emblem I have has 2 pins (2 cm long) at 3 and 9 o'clock positions, and 1 pin (1 cm long) at 12 o'clock position. I don't know how it works on E85.

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
Then it sounds like the old model. I'd remove one grille and feel under the bumper cover where the back of the badge is (or whatever else you have to remove to get to the badge) and bet you'll come across a couple of retaining nuts on the longer pins.

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
They look like pins that would work with self tapping nuts and the third as a locating pin (well someone might try to fit it upside down??)

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
Thanks, Alan. This is why the normal way of removing the emblem wih pry bar did not work on Zed.AlanJ wrote:Two nuts hold this on. Part Number 51418176418

Can the nuts be re-used after they are released?

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
I have removed the air dust to get access to the inside of the bumper (easier than removing the front grill). The emblem on E89 is also secured by 2 retaining nuts.
But other US and Canadian E89 owners said the emblem in Europe is different from what they have over there.
I don't have the socket small enough to loose the nuts (< 8mm).

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
Not sure - if they are simply 'metal' nuts that cut there own thread into the plastic I'm sure they can.ksher wrote:Thanks, Alan. This is why the normal way of removing the emblem wih pry bar did not work on Zed.AlanJ wrote:Two nuts hold this on. Part Number 51418176418

Re: Replace BMW Emblem on Bonnet
If the pegs on the badge as plain and tapered then it will be reusable self tapping nuts.
