Removing front vents - frustrated and given up..

I have had the Aux cable lying around for two months in the garage. Yesterday i planned to install the thing.
Got my long screwdriver and credit card out. Went at it, but after 30 minutes I gave up.
I located the metal catches, but it seems impossible to move them down (or up?) in order to get it out..

More difficult the 1st time, but not too bad.
PULL CATCH/TAB DOWN AND KEEP KEEPING IT PRESSED DOWN,WHILST GETTING CREDIT CARD IN AT THAT SIDE,THEN GENTLY LEVER IT OUT WITH THE CR/CARD(NOT SCREWDRIVER), REPEAT ON OPPOSITE SIDE,AND HEY PRESTO
Hope u have better luck 2nd go/dont give up though.
