Help needed in de-assemling the navigation screen

Post by bmw204060 » Fri Dec 25, 2009 7:25 pm

Hi Guys,

My nav screen's plastic case broke on the left hinge and also opened apart where the screen's front and back case meet. I would like to attempt to fix this or replace it but can't seem to find any instructions on how to access the de-assembly points in order to pop the screen out from the top of my dashboard.

Your help would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Remove the airvent above the radio.
Remove the radio.
Remove two screws which are in the bracket in the opening where the legs of the screen rest on.
Remove the rear plastic clip of the screen nearest to the windscreen, just clips in.
Remove the 2 screws which are exposed once you remove the plastic strip at the rear.
Screen is now lose and can be lifted up through the hole.
Disconnect single connector and screen is free.

... and you need to push up the unit from under the right hand side first if I recall?

- the motor is sort of slotted under the left hand side, so you push up the right and 'feed' out.
Why is it that people who can't take advice always insist on giving it?
