why would you reset the service indicator if it's going in for a service ? changing a microfilter wouldn't warrant this.. im confused.. :tumbleweed:

Hmm it is possibly me that is confused. I dont want to reset the service indicator I thought that having removed and replaced the microfilter this would then trigger an engine light in the computer that should be reset. I appreciate that they will reset the service indicator for me tomorrow. Is there no need to do anything when removing the microfilter then?

The microfilter is for the cabin not the engine so I doubt it would throw a warning. Just have the service person reset the indicator when they do whatever you're taking it in for.

My year was up before I hit 15k miles so my service advisor just changed the oil and didn't reset. I brought it back in at 15K for the rest of the service work. They reset it then.

Nope no warning thrown.

Out of interest, why did you change the cabin filter ? :) I assume the service tomorrow is just an oil service and won't include this.

Did it myself as it took 10 mins to do and with the part costing £34 the stealer probably would have charged me £65 or £70 to do something that is dead simple to do. The other reason is that the filter should be changed every 12 months and in fairness mine was stinking when it came out so think it def needed a new one, very often they do it when the car is in for a service but it is an extra cost. Now I only have to worry about arguing about the famous corrosion on the 108's. Took all the wheels off yesterday to clean and inspect them and the back ones are a mess, oddly the front are much better but still show signs and think it will only be time before they go.

but, the air filter is part of the service, and if you change it more often, you don't have to reset the service indicator. The service indicator is for oil changes, etc. Just write yourself a note when you change the filter.
