Which Z4? 2.2i or 2.0i
I am looking for a Z4 - either 2.0i or the 2.2i
I am 25 years old (mentioned due to Insurance purposes) and commute from Sheffield to Leeds Bradford Airport every day (80miles return - ecomomy-ish)
Which one should I buy? Can you recommend anything? What should I avoid?
Thanks in advance for the help!

Welcome to the forum.. only driven the 3.0 so dont know what difference there is between the 2.2 and 2.0 other than the 2.2 is straight six versus four cylinder...
Insurance, you are the right side of 25, depends on so many things though...

Re: Which Z4? 2.2i or 2.0i
Both models are fine.
Driving and feeling is perfect.
But you have to decide thinking your priorities.
I.e. are you a 6-cylinder fan, or you care about fuel economy? Do you care on age and reselling?
So, main differences:
2.2 is 6 cylinder smoother engine, 20 more hp, but older as BMW does not sell any more 2.2s. Also more 'hungry' but on the other hand it is said that real BMWs are the 6-cylinder ones. It is faster than the 2.0 and due to the 6-cylinder it has a perfect sound.
2.0 is 4 cylinder with one of the latest technology and modern engines (valvetronic) and very economic.
Mine on city or while very aggresive driving is max 10 litre/100km, while in highways is between 7-8 litre/100Km.
Even only 150hp runs very well.
Also newer model as BMW still selling new Z4 with the 2.0 engine, so better if consider future selling.

Re: Which Z4? 2.2i or 2.0i
Hi Jinkster
Welcome aboard
What is your budget?
There are some tidy 2.2 models out there for peanuts. If you want to spend a little more I would go for the post facelift 2.0i sport model. I personally would not consider the SE model.
If the V6 is what your after then consider the 2.5.
What is your current vehicle? Perhaps some of the members could give you some meaningful comparisons.
The best advice I could give you (being a newbie myself and a very recent convert) is to drive as many different engine variants and trims as you can. Consider the fuel costs, the road tax bands, the insurance and then ignore everything and go with your heart - after all you're only 25 once!
Whatever you choose I am sure you will enjoy it.

I don't know about which handles better, per se, but I've just been on Highlander 4, where the car that impressed everybody the most was the 2.0 ... the handling was incredible!
Cheers,
Spokey

Re: Which Z4? 2.2i or 2.0i
ive got the 2.2i se its incredible and a daily comute wigan to manchester sees me averaging 32.2 to the gallon which i was very impressed at plus the streight 6 pulls so smooth and sounds amazing ps check the rear springs (mine have just snapped) and the vanos unit before you buy as they both go also add a litre of oil in your budget as mine uses a litre every 6 months even at 24000 miles

I’m 24 and am renewing my insurance tomorrow for under £500, I’m assuming you’ve already got quotes to compare though?
I’d be looking at a 2.2 purely because it’s a straight six.
Oh and welcome to the forum
