Hello!
Really hoping for some expert insight/advice - I’m having a great deal of trouble finding an answer!
I currently own a 2017 120d M Sport auto which I’m potentially trading in against a 2015 2.8 Z4 auto which I test drove today. What I’m struggling to find out is what type of auto gearbox the Z4 uses? Is it a ZF auto box or DCT type box?
The seller doesn’t know which type of gearbox it is either.
I have no experience with petrol driven ZF boxes so don’t know if it felt slightly more snappy just because of the engine type, or whether it is a dual clutch style auto! The Z4 has 56k miles and the reg is LR15ODH -
I don’t know if BMW offered the Z4 with a choice of ZF auto or DCT at the time and if so which would have been the better choice! (I know that manual would be the most popular choice but sadly I suffer with leg trouble so it has to be auto for me!)
I’m very grateful for any advice
Tom (hopeful Z4 owner to be)

Hello! Automatic question on a 2015 2.8
Hi, the 28i (no decimal point) uses the zf auto box & not the dual clutch transmission. The 18/20 & 28i all use the same 2.0 turbo engine
