Hi guys,
Picked up this at the weekend after selling my E60 545i Sport and Mazda MX5 MK1 Berkeley. Due to needing a diesel for work the BMW hardly got any use and I got a good offer on the MX5.
It was between a MK1 boxster and a Z3 3.0l to replace them, until I saw this undervalued Z4 for sale.
Car needs the cam cover gasket replacing and a full service which I'm working my way through. It also needed two front tyres and a full day of cleaning as it was in a right state but it will still need a cut and polish...
Car drives lovely although the m sport suspension is an eye opener ever after my MX5. I love the seats but they have no heat!! The business stereo is also a let down after having the pro logic 7 set up in my 545i so I'll need to look into that.
Overall I'm pretty happy with it.

Hi and welcome to the forum.
Good to hear initial impressions are positive - now you just need to get it how you want it!

That looks very tidy. If it’s a 3.0Si (hard to be sure from the photo), they are hard to come by, so you’ve done well. Enjoy.

Good Evening Phippy,
I have just joined the Forum and saw your post and thought I would offer my congratulations on attaining your new car. I am a little envious as I have yet to acquire a Z4. I am hoping to acquire a 35is and hope that one arrives soon!
With best wishes,
Z4MAD

Yes it is. I loved the colour and red interior but despite being the ultimate car and motorcycle geek, I didn't know they did a face-lift e85 with the N52 engine.
My brother-in-law had the 2.5se and if im honest, just like this one, at 6ft 4 I struggled to fit in. But I've never owned a straight 6 so I thought sod it I'll give it a try, as after the MX5 everything should feel roomy compared to that.

The ride is very hard Phippy. I did fit sensible coilovers to the MX5 and it rode the bumps far better than the Z4 on the M Sport suspension.
The Z4 handles beautifully on smooth roads but as we know they are a rarity in this country. On my own its perfectly fine, but its when the wife is with me on a longish journey that it gets a bit much.

Although the suspension is harder on the Sports version, I wonder if maybe half the problem is that it's still on the original shocks?
Swapped wifey's over a while back. Even though they looked clean and dry, they were completely shot, no damping left in them at all!
So worth a rummage around underneath to check?
