Hi all. Great to join the forum and look forward to all the information that's offered here. I just purchased an e89 2010 35i and my son purchased a week later the e85 2.0i.

Welcome aboard from a fellow E85/E89 double owner.
You'll find it interesting to compare and contrast the two, even given the massive disparity in power.

One thing I can vouch for after this week............... if you both get caught in the rain and have to put your roof up, you are going to be significantly wetter than your son.

Thanks folks that's a nice welcome.
Just had the e89 wheels powder coated.
So cool how they do it.
Just waiting for some new centre caps and M stickers for wheels.

Had mine done recently and they supplied the badges - mine centre caps were fine.

They do look good though

Thanks. caps arrived today and now looks better.
Quite a bit of right-side exhaust valve rattle on startup so will take a look at the weekend.
My son William can't drive his e85 until mid August as he needs his first years no claims bonus just to be offered insurance.
Found a slight oil leak towards the rear of the head on the e85 drivers side and running down on the heat shield and steering universal joint so if anybody knows possible solutions i would be grateful for any input.

More than likely the top cover gasket.
Simple enough to change, many references to it on the forum.
My advice would be to plug all the oil-ways once you have the cover off. The old gasket will be more like bakelite than rubber, especially the rings around the spark plug wells. Small pieces will go in all directions.

Edit: Realised your is the N52 motor and my experience was with the earlier M54. Sure the same applies in general though.

As the E85 is a 2.0i it will have the N46 engine, and while I have no experience of those I suspect the fix is much the same as for the M54 and N52 6 cylinder engines.

Ah yes. Completely messed that one up. Read it as 2.5. My apologies.
