Hi,new member with Roadser S problems

Post by johnwayne » Fri Jul 02, 2021 9:52 am

Hi everyone,
I have owned 3 Z3m Roadsters in the past and have recently purchased a Alpina Roadster S Luxe.

Couple of immediate problems,

1. OBC giving erratic readings on MPG,Average speed and even date/time etc
Appears to be ok when stationary.

2.Remote locking works fine but when unlocking plunger on drivers door lifts ok but lifting handle fails to open door.

Any ideas or help appreciated

Well welcome to the forum.

Sorry I can't offer any help with the problems you describe, but hopefully someone will.

And expect to be asked for photos of your car - it's one of the unwritten rules!

Welcome & Congratulations on acquiring an Alpina.
It could be a number of things. Possibly a dry solder joint on the speedo module if its an issue thats only appearing when in motion, which is something Ive seen before on a 3.0 Si. Maybe a loose plug even ?

The door handles can get like that when the cables stretch. The good news is that all the door components are standard Z4 parts so easily obtainable, unike the Alpina specific bits

What build number is your Roadster ?
Alpina Roadster #307
Porsche Boxster GTS
Previous Zs
Stratus E86
G29 30i
1x Imola Z4MR
Alpina #019
10x E85 Se/Si Roadsters
2x E89's
Roof Motor Relocations (Bristol)

Not 100% sure but following a thorough check of all connections to inputs and nothing obvious found I was advised that the erratic function may have been as a result of damp caused by over wintering last year in an outside unheated garage,Have to say no further problems but now on SORN so fingers crossed will be ok in spring,
Thanks for the interest and positive comments
