Just in time for summer :-)
Hello - just arrived. Have just purchased a E85 2.5i automatic in sterling gray - 74k but with failed roof motor. Run flats swapped for standard tyres.
Polished up a treat and it's so good that I am aiming for a showroom fresh look so have purchased from ebay:
Park Lane key rings times two (£11)
Park Lane dealer rear window sticker (£10)
Stubby aerial (£5)
Number plates are Park Lane originals so that's good.
Wouldn't mind a Park Lane tax disc holder but that's probably asking too much.
Faults:
* Driver's window lowers all the way when you unlock it?!?
* Front parking sensors not working (none are crackling - all dead)
* Roof motor knackered (have got it out - soaking - can't get the Alan key bolts out at the moment and I can't get it actually in to the boot - something holding it back so hovering just above where it came out at the moment)
* Slight oil leak (hopefully just rocker cover)
* A fem minors scrapes on the bumper but otherwise paint very good and original
Also, am measuring up for a wind deflector which I will 3d print and install mesh fabric.
Apart from that lot all good and a great buy/car.
This forum is great - learned loads all ready!!
Cheers
Mark

Nice motor, regarding the window lowering this is coded in,think its if you double press on unlock buttom of key to ease access in tight places
Ps the roof motors are tiewrapped in and it will need cutting ,but be very careful you dont cut any thing you shouldnt

Welcome.
Looks a nice motor.
Maybe a silly question...................have you actually got front sensors? Can't see any on the photo?
And just to start the arguments early, if you want it showroom fresh you'll be needing a whippy not a stubby.

You're right about the stubby - I knew that as I was typing - whip aerial stashed in boot so it doesn't get lost
Yes, front parking sensors are there OK - just dead.
Thanks for your reply

OK - I'll l read the manual re the window thanks
It does feel like something is tie wrapped in. I think a careful yank/cut is required. Will have another go. The blummin manual override is locked solid too which means no roof down at the moment. Maybe I can free that for starters

I'm pretty sure the E85 didn't come with front parking sensors as standard or as an option. someone probably fitted aftermarket either just at the front or front and rear if it didn't come out the factory with rear.

That might explain it then - I'll see if I can trace the wiring. Thanks for the advice - might explain why nothing came up when googledgadgetJunky72 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 06, 2021 3:29 pm I'm pretty sure the E85 didn't come with front parking sensors as standard or as an option. someone probably fitted aftermarket either just at the front or front and rear if it didn't come out the factory with rear.

Front parking sensors - good install job if they aren't BMW factory which it sounds like they can't be. Will keep researching...

Front PDC was never an option on E85/6 so has to be after market.

Welcome to the forum Mark.
It sounds like you are getting stuck into fixes and upgrades. I hope they all go well.

Welcome to Z ownership and the forum. These are nice wheels to have on the car and well done on getting stuck in to the niggles. Roof motor is awkward but a one time fix to a better location. You’ll have fun over the summer.
