Always admired the shape of the z4. A friend had a coupe from new back in 2007 and since then I always wanted one, only I wanted the convertible.

Almost 14yrs later I today drove home a 3.0i 2004 black Z4 roadster and I have to say I’m over the moon with it! The straight six burbled all the way home and with the top down I found myself smiling away....

The only strange behaviour I found (and I am aware of steering issues) whilst i was on the motorway was that the steering became very light and it tracked a lot with the steering feeling loose - any views/opinions appreciated....Apologies this kind of issue has probably been covered many times!

Hi and welcome to the forum.

I'll warn you now though people will be along soon asking for photos!

Z4s often suffer from "tramlining" - usually cured by getting any tired suspension bushes replaced and fitting non-runflat tyres.

Hope you can get that issue resolved and then just enjoy your straight 6 - but they can be addictive.

Welcome to the forum, I thought my car wanted to kill me when I first drove it on the motorway. It had next to no feedback in the steering, I changed the tyres from RF's, that helped, but still wasn't happy. I then changed the wheels for 18", this helped , but still not happy. I moved the concentric ring on the electric steering motor next, this sorted the problem. My Zed now drive's beautifully.
