So at 38 i've sold a jag and picked up a Z4 for some fun through the summer. It hasn't broken the bank but seems it pretty good condition and I am looking forward to having some fun in it.

It's a 2005 2.5i and I just wanted to stop by and say hi and ask the awesome members of this forum (had a little lurk prior to joining) some questions for a new owner.

Are there any sites or areas of quick resources or how to guides? I'm looking at refurbishing the seats. They are red and I don't know what colour I need to get to give them a really good clean up, or what the best products to use are from experience on this site?

Best way to unfog the headlamps? Been told that toothpaste is a go to one to use?

Oh and something good to clean the soft top, get rid of the little mould/bird crap.

Any hints or tips... absolutely love the drive and feel of the car! With the weather getting better i'm intending to get that top down and enjoy the summer.

Thanks in advance.

James

Hi James and welcome. https://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/leather-care-products are very good and they do BMW colour matching dyes. It takes a bit of elbow grease and time to get them nice but judging by the pictures of yours they should come up well.
Can't help with the rest, though

Hi James

Furniture clinic as mentioned should be worth a look. But perhaps first you could get some leather cleaner and a brush and give them a good going over. Some leather balm may help to. Depends, they might just be filthy.

Autoglym do a good cabriolet kit for cleaning and then treating the roof to keep it looking tip top. Ive used it on two E85’s before and they came up very well.

Welcome to the forum and hope you enjoy your new Z4.

Welcome !! As others have stated these wonderful cars are addicting. I have only owned mine for just under a year and think I now have a permanent smile on my face! We only have one trip on this planet we call earth and these cars are a roller coaster on wheels to view as much of it as we can.

Hi all, thanks for the replies, had a busy weekend zooming around and like you folks have said, they are super addictive cars! The Jag was a big fast tourer but this... wow. Through the lanes today was fantastic fun.

The M badge will absolutely be going. This was literally a quick decision purchase and needs a little work but I am very happy and will absolutely be upgrading to a newer model with more toys (and maybe the M engine) once i've got a wedding and house purchase out of the way!!

I've got my defogging kit for the headlamps which was going to be todays project but I spend the day out and about in it.

I'll give the seats a good clean up and see if that helps in the first instance. Thank you for the dye advice.

I need to replace those bloody door trims and the aluminium facias are covered in grime so I need some good elbow grease to get that nice and shiny...

Tell you the truth I might bite the bullet and drop £200 on a detailing session.

But this forum is fantastic and the car is absolutely fantastic.

The biggest job i've got is this vacuum leak on the breaks. Need to nail that down as to whether its a booster, single hose or whether I should again just change it all out.

It might be an old girl needing some TLC but I want at least a good 12 months out of it and let her live her later years with some love and attention.
