Just looking for my first z4

Post by Mike gorman » Sat Oct 03, 2020 9:07 am

Hi ,
Anyone here done the backbox delete? Is it too loud or just right .
Just seems a bit too civilised at present otherwise chuffed to bits with it , now the weather will turn wet πŸ˜₯.
Had a good run out yesterday and even had the roof down, was a blast!😁

think a backbox mod rather than adelete would be more pleasant to the ear.. or of course the more expensive route of an aftermarket system. I actually think the 23i has a fairly nice tone, not particularly loud but not too quiet either.
if its got tits or tyres..its trouble :D

I don't have a z4 any more, but have had 6 of them. All 3ltr. If you can afford it I'd say go for it. it's always been the top of the range apart from the "M" version, which means in most cases more equipment as standard or people specced them better.

2009 would be the last of the old shape (E85) soft top and new shape (E89) folding metal roof. so you'll need to decide which you're gonna go for. I've had one E85 and 5 E89s. The E89 is more refined than the E85, but that's not always what you want. There's loads of info on this site for every model, engine size, colour combo. so the more you read the better prepared you'll be when you go to look at one.

    Good luck with the search.

Cheers mr Tidy 😁 loving it already but need to get rid of the 'run flats ' I see why everyone recons their no good, but they have loads of meat on them. Seems to have a bit of poke for a 2.5!

Good looking car Mike. I recently changed out my run-flats (19 inch). The existing ones (with decent tread) sold for over Β£50 each on Ebay, so you can claw some cash back that way if you make the change to β€œnormal” tyres. Also to help protect the alloys a little more I fitted 35 profile on the rear (rather than 30) as well as the extra protection it also has the added by product that they are actually cheaper than the 30 profile.
