Evening all ! Just bought the Mrs a 2006 z4 roadster. 3.0 si, low miles and full history (29000) I love the straight 6 ! Auto box which I don't mind too much. Roof works fine but I'll be moving the motor into the boot soon, just started getting stuck into it today after a few weeks of ownership. I've fitted new brakes all round today and it'll be getting a mop over the weekend, the paints in great condition so hopefully it'll be looking like new in a day or two. I'm going to paint the calipers and probably powdercoat the wheels as although they look ok there is slight corrosion starting on the inside. The engine bay is spotless and the engine sounds sweet. I've already removed the bits of foam from the sound generator. Only issue I have is the radio, I cannot activate the Bluetooth at all, so it'll be either swap out the head unit or add a parrot ? Advice please guys. I will update pics when it's polished
Cheers

Welcome to the forum.
Going by your user name I'm guessing the car is Ruby Black which looks fantastic when the light hits it right. But the V5 may say the colour is Red so it's something to be aware of - my 1st Z4 had that issue.
The 3.0Si is a great engine so you might want to borrow it now and again!
Depending where you are in Hampshire it's a good county to be in as Forum Member "Bowser134", or Ross, after 15 years at Sytner opened up on his own late last year at RBMHampshire in Hook, Hants and has done quite a few jobs on my BMWs lately. He has been reviving and relocating roof motors for years, but if you plan to do it yourself there is a "How To" on here.
Sorry I can't help with the Bluetooth issue as none of my Z4s had that option, but hopefully someone will know!

It is ruby black, it's a lovely colour I like to get my hands dirty so will be doing everything DIY though you never know what could crop up so it's nice to have a local specialist. I've taken it out for a little blast a few times and I quite like it, looks quite manly for a two seater convertible it's no slouch either ! It's the first 6 cylinder beemer I've owned and it sounds so good, but it may need the exhaust modifying as it's a little quiet.

Yes, Ruby Black looks great when the light catches it right - although in the UK that doesn't happen too often.
I've become addicted to 6 cylinder BMWs - I'm on Numbers 6 and 7 just now!
For a bit more noise you probably need to change the back box, or for even more volume you could get it removed and have straight pipes! But given it is your OHs car you might get some grief as it is pretty loud.

I must admit I'm in love with this engine I've owned 2 beemers before, a 2.0 3 series coupe and a 5.0 v10 both of which nearly put me off BMW for life
I'm currently driving a de-resonated s3 and previously a jap spec c Impreza which had a full de-cat so this is silent in comparison ! I did see a mod where someone chopped up the back box and inserted pipes so I may go down that route as I did notice the bracket on it is broken.
Morning buzyg from a sunny Gosport.....don't suppose you want to swap wheels ?
