Newbie E85 Fixer Upper
Picked up my first ever 'fun' car on Sunday at the age of 40, after years of Mondeos and Astras for practicality reasons. Still got an astra estate to tick the practicality box but here's my e85 3.0 auto in midnight wine.
Needs a bit of mostly cosmetic tlc but who doesn't love a project?
First job on the list is to dry it out - confirmed leaky door membrane with the old watering can on the window technique, so here she is under the carport with the seat out, carpet lifted and a fan heater and dehumidifier going....
The water is clean so I reckon the seller (a mini dealer - taken car as a px) had it washed and that's when it got a drenching!
With the help of this forum I'll sort that and work through the rest of the list and keep fingers crossed for a cracking summer! Just need to find somewhere to put the hard top before then...
Love it already and only driven it the 20 miles home - had a couple of opportunities to floor it on motorway slip roads in sports mode and I've never had a mondeo that went or sounded like that

That should do the job if they still have any in stock - if not they are sure to have them again!

Looks ivory to me, with a nice wooden trim. And a fan heater, a load of dehumidifiers and regularly rotated beach towels under the carpet....Crazy Harry wrote: ↑Fri Mar 06, 2020 8:50 pm Hi and welcome - 3.0 roadster well done .... and in merlot!

Does that suggest u have water ingress from somewhere?PedroTheMuso wrote: ↑Sun Mar 08, 2020 11:19 pmLooks ivory to me, with a nice wooden trim. I see you have the hardtop installed. I have mine installed atm and am struggling to detect the source of my water ingress. Looked a thte usual suspects; door membranes, scuttle, roof drains but none of them lead me to think it's them. Wondering if the hardtop is playing a part somehow. maybe the window seal. i hear it's not as tight as with the softtop seal from the increase in wind noise.
