Hi. I've just bought a 2012 Z4 & joined the forum. I couldn't find an answer online - just wondering , if i have the roof down , can i utilise the 2 areas to the side of the storage area as extra storage if its under the height limit or does everything have to be contained in the luggage cover area ?. Cheers neil

I think you will find that you mustn’t use the two areas you refer to for storage. It is only the central area under the folding cover where it is safe to store items. Recently a Forum member had left something in one of the outside areas and when he attempted to put the roof down it jammed. There isn’t much room with roof down for storage but you can buy luggage which is designed to fit the boot with roof down. I have some for my E89. It’s made by a German company. Occasionally some comes up for sale on the Forum.
