Newbie, Farnborough E85 3.0i SE - Wheels ??

Post by Steve67 » Fri Mar 29, 2019 12:10 pm

Hi,
I'm hopefully collecting my E85 at the weekend, which will probably trigger the wettest summer on record!
It's a 3.0i SE Auto, with M Sports suspension, professional nav, electric memory heated seats etc and looks in good shape for a 14 year old with 105k on the clock! I wouldn't have minded the DSP/HIfi stereo option or sports seats but overall pretty pleased with the spec!

I do have one question about the wheels on the car for the experts here ... It was originally spec'd with 108's but the wheels on the car are MV2's (135). Tyre sizes are correct as 225/40x18 and 255/35x18 Falkens - non-runflat! I like the look of the wheels and they fill the arches well - perhaps a little too well for the correct offset and I'm wondering whether these MV2's came from an E60/E61 with the lower inset of 20 compared to the 47/50 that the Z4 should have? Or is that an illusion of the lower M-sport suspension? Pics attached - what do you think?

Thanks,
Steve

Hmm .. yes, it could be spacers, but do the wheels look a little more "dished" than the E85/E46 MV2's? Hopefully I'll be collecting it tomorrow and find out!

The roof currently works quickly in both directions so top of the to-do list is checking the drain holes are clear and maybe a relocation to the boot! Actually, that's second on the to-do list .. the first is burning through a tank of fuel with the roof down!

That's a lovely looking 3.0i

The wheels definitely sit further out than 'standard', so it's either wheel spacers, different offset wheels or a combination of both.

As standard, the normal Z4 et47/et50 alloys sit really far in the arches, almost looking a bit lost.

Cheers! My sensible car is an E60 520d so the wheel comparison will take all of 10 minutes once I pick up the Z4!

I do like the stance with the M-sport suspension and the wheels filling the arches - it was one of those "I'm going to end up buying this" on first sight moments!

Great colour by the way, but I would say that!
