Hi Folks,
Hope you're well well.
Thought I'd become acquainted with the forum, usually a valuable resource and good for peace of mind too.
The missus and I are on the lookout for a 2.5Si or 3.0i, preferably auto. Budget circa £5k.
I've one some minimal research and have discovered that flooded roof motors can be problematic, and that the 2.5Si's can leak and/or use a bit of oil.
Any words of wisdom at this stage?!
Best
Sam

Hi, it’s fairly common for the engine breather to gum up & cause the oil burning (which is better than a worn engine causing it)
The si cars have electronic water pumps which tend to fail without warning around 70k miles onwards, bit pricey at just over £200, can cost over double this if sourced from bmw themselves!
Rear springs can snap often but are fairly cheap.
Lots of info on here if you use the search feature
Good luck looking.

Hi and welcome.
Some good advice already. There are a few members on here who relocate roof motors to the boot to keep them dry.
Good luck with your search, and when you've found one don't forget we like photos.
